There is a theory that those whose have a prosthetic limb and compete in endurance sports such as track, actually have an advantage by having less “metabolic overhead”. In short, the heart only has to feed one leg and therefore the athlete can better supply oxygen to the rest of his muscles.
Interesting theory, but for gods sake, I’m sure the athlete would give up that “edge” for more metabloic overhead (two legs) any day of the week.
