Oh man, I’ve always thought about stocking up on pumpkin pie when they start making them right around Thanksgiving but I know I’d eat a pie a day until I was a fat fat fatty. I can’t have chocolate, chips or anything dessert-like in the house as I have zero will power :stuck_out_tongue:

Trying out a new meal plan to kick start my weight loss to 135#. Here goes!

M1: 2 eggs
1/4 cup egg whites
3 strips turkey bacon
1/2 oz cheese
4g flax seed oil
2 green onions
1/8 red onion
1/2 cup spinach
Couple slices of green pepper
3 mushrooms

M2: 2 oz steak
2 oz chicken
1/4 cup salsa
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
3g flax seed oil
1 cup romaine lettuce
1/2 cup cucumber

M3: 1 egg
1/4 cup egg whites
1/2 oz cheese
1 green onion
1/2 cup spinach
Couple slices of green pepper
2 mushrooms

M4: 2 oz steak
2 oz chicken
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
3g flax seed oil
100g broccoli

M5: 2 scoops whey
1/2 cup dry curd
80g blueberries
1 tbsp peanut butter
Enough water to turn this into a shake.

M5 was something I sipped on through the day. I can eat as much green veggies as I want right now so cucumbers are getting a workout

Breakdown: 1716 cals, 50%(96.3g) f/45%(182.5g) p/5%(24.8g) c

Note: The carb value doesn’t include any green veggie contribution as it’s mostly fibrous carbs. I’m surprisingly not hungry eating like this but I’ll give it a couple days. Oh, and I’m downing about 6L of water a day, so that helps.

Patch, if you find Ferrero Rocher’s wrapping potential, look at this old ad. Far more hilarious than the one Frenchie posted!

That looks amazing. Om nom nom! We don’t really get pumpkin pie here - I tried making some once but it was horrible.
The key is canned pumpkin. Really. Fresh I just can’t make work. For the record though, I ganked that pic off the internet. Mine was eaten to quickly to be photographed :0

Yeah me too, I have to exert my will power while at the store. Telling myself I will at home is lies; if it’s there I’ll eat it. All. In one sitting.

Why all the Flax oil? I thought seeds were better.

What do you weigh now?

I always start out with the best of intentions, but you know where they say that path leads…

Yesterdays food was a combo of going shopping with my brother, while also not going to the grocery store.

M1:
2 Scoops Grow
1 Banana
Cinnamon

M2:
Chipotle Burrito Bowl - according to the website this guy is 795 calories

M3:
Bag of popcorn

M4: PWO
3 chapati (Indian flat bread)
2 cups cabbage + broccoli sabji (basically and Indian saute)
1 pomegranate

p/c/f/cal
60/140/19/1657

So, calories not ridiculously bad, but the macro ratios are not good, and you know the quality of food.

It’s pretty hard to get canned pumpkin here. It’s not widely eaten.

And yeah, with you on the food. I cannot have anything nice in the house because I will wolf it down in one sitting. Even an entire box of chocolates. Narcotics and alcohol hold little interest for me but food is my drug of choice. I can no more have treats in the house than an alcoholic can have a bottle of rum.

These commercials make me dislike it even more.

The Ambassador’s Reception is famous for being awful - it won awards for being one of the worst ads of all time.

I use flax oil instead of fish oil. The few times I’ve tried using fish oil my body hasn’t agreed with it. I’m not sure if that was because of my macro breakdown at the time. I’m not sure what the nutritional difference is between the oil and seeds. I’m using the flax oil to help balance out the rest of the fat in my diet.

I weigh around 145# right now, so it’s not that much weight to lose. I know I just have to stay disciplined with the diet and it’ll happen.

This is a good idea, Patch.

You asked about the nutrition forum, I did read a lot over there when I started and found it helpful. I think most of the fundamentals still apply to us, even though hearing about how so many of the big guys on here can eat TONS of food not so much. The best site for nutrition info IMO is John Berardi’s Precision Nutrition. I’ve read tons of articles over there. You are probably familiar. I know you are a science chick so that part will probably appeal to you.

Here’s a link to some of his articles. http://www.johnberardi.com/articles/nutrition/index.htm

And here’s his main site. http://www.precisionnutrition.com/

I slowly bulked about 10 pounds over the past year, but now I’m trying a slow cut to see if I can lean down my legs a bit. I’m spending a lot more time on the stairmill. That thing will burn the butter. Cutting over the holidays takes some serious mental fortitude.

My motivation is to be a bit leaner when I start my ballet class on January 9th. There’s nowhere to hide the fluff in leotards and tights.

I’m using fitday, and as far as macros, I’m shooting for 45% protein, with the rest split fairly evenly between fats and carbs. I’m eating almost paleo plus dairy. Very, very few grains and I’m staying toward the bottom of my calorie range which is about 1350 cals per day.

Those legs belong to Misty Copeland. She’s my height, and that’s my inspiration, when I want to eat something that isn’t on my plan!

You girls are going to kill me, but does anyone have any advice on how to put ON weight? I know obviously it’s just to eat A LOT and I feel like I do. Maybe I’ll start posting my noms in my log. I know A LOT of men that bulk but not many women.

I’m working on gaining right now. No specific advice here, but you’re not alone.

Ah cool. I’ll update if I learn anything new from what I do. Milkshakes, mcdonald’s and beef aren’t doing the trick.

what kind of weight?
mom-in-MD wrote:

Well I have weighed 130 for the past two years and I feel like a gangly bean pole. I think I need to add some fat and muscle to my body to get stronger. Plus, I kind of want to start looking like I train. I’m kind of just skinny fat now.

To maintain weight you need a certain amount of cals, and I to gain you need a surplus of cals, EVERYday and consistently. 350- 700 extra cals eveyday(that could mean 1-2 poptarts and a couple glasses of milk…voila!)
… start small so you have something to compare.

high protein- 1.5-2 g per/lb

carbs- potato, rice, white bread after Training and whole grains the rest of the day etc- I’d say 40-50% of cals

And the rest from good fat- 20-25%

I’d also limit the amount of intense cardio you do. Don’t want to burn through the deficit! Train HARD AND HEAVY

Of course this is all just a guesstimate. I’ve never tried to GAIN weight on purpose, lol.

where are cals right now??

Thanks for the feedback!

I’m not sure about my calories. I’ve never counted and I probably should for the purpose of this experiment. I would love to have a reason to eat extra pop tarts hhaaha ewwwww I’m so gross.

Hey Dani,

It’s really important to figure out how many cals you eat in a day. Fitday.com is a fast and free way to figure it out. MiM has the idea on the macro breakdown. You’ll probably have to play with it to get it right. Don’t be afraid to eat a little dirty on the way up. Keep it mostly clean so that the majority of the weight gain is good but be aware that the fat will come on with it too. If you can figure out how much you’re eating now you have a place to start

ya, you’d need a starting point for sure.

Think of it as a fun science project!
