Food Before Bed

yea

if I don’t eat before bed, I stay awake most of the night being hungry. With that being said I haven’t gotten a good night sleep after eating for some time

and you don’t feel like having carbs before bed has any effect on body comp?

I’ve been told by some BioSig practitioners that carbs before bed are awesome because they contribute to the release of seratonin which, as well know, is the “feel good” hormone and contributes to your body’s readiness (so to speak) for sleep.

I agree with you WestCoast7 completely that my sleep SUCKS if I eat (or drink for that matter—even water) anything within 2-ish hours before bed.

But if I’m lean enough I like to have something like turkey or cottage cheese as well as some beans about 2 hours prior to retiring. (Ground Turkey Chili! Yes!) I have not found this to have a negative effect on body comp as long as other macros are prioritized at other times of the day.

Then again what is appropriate for me may not be appropriate for the next.

Why would it? Do we need to make a distinction between potential water weight gain and actual fat gain?

I feel like the whole “carbs make you fat!” plus “I don’t use calipers or anything silly, just the mirror!” means that many people (including many trainers on this site) can’t exactly tell the difference between a few pounds of water weight and a few pounds of fat. Even just observing how your jeans fit couldn’t tell you this distinction.

Not digging at you, either.
