Actually, you guys would be surprised. I worked at a Circle K and most people with EBT cards weren’t fat. However, I can only assume most of them were gaming the system rather than actually needing food stamps. One guy had a cash only tree trimming/removal business, he’d come in and buy five energy drinks at a time. One lady always bought Blue Moon beer and asked when we’d start selling K2 but whipped out her EBT card to buy $20 in bullshit like candy and soda. One couple that came in was pretty interesting. The boyfriend had definitely spent some time in prison judging by all of his visible swastika tattoos. Another guy was high out of his mind on something and always had scabs all over his body, I’d say he’s heavy into meth if it wasn’t for him buying lots of food there. Sometimes he’d space out when he’s entering the PIN number for his EBT card. Those were the regulars.

I live in rural Kansas. Surrounded by government moochers who (surprisingly) are anti-government. We have people getting government assistance bitching about other people on government assistance. Many of them would call themselves conservative.

My manager went to lunch and the bank so I was running the store, it slowed down so I decided to mop around the soda fountain since it’d get pretty bad around there. Spilled drinks and dirty foot prints like you wouldn’t believe, some people even thought the price was a little steep so they’d drink a cup then leave their trash on the counter and leave. Some lady waddled in with two small kids and let them run all over the store, her son was doing laps around the store until he slipped where I was mopping. I was going to check on him but he jumped up, said he’s OK and ran off. He told his mom he fell then she came over to chew me out. I shouldn’t be mopping when there are kids in the store, I should have asked him if he’s OK, she wanted to talk to my manager, since I fucked up big time I owed them a discount or something for free and she hoped I “don’t have no motherfucking kids because you don’t pay no attention to them”. I rang her stuff up and she wanted to pay with EBT, I hadn’t seen an EBT card yet so I’d no clue what they looked like. The card wouldn’t go through, it’s my fault. She gave me the wrong card, it’s my fault. I didn’t tell her it’s the wrong card, my fault. Her kids were about to push the door open and run out of the store because I don’t know how to “do any damn thing”. She called them back by saying “get over here right fucking now”, the oldest one might have been six.

I don’t give a fuck about red states or blue states, rich states or poor states, north or south. I CAN speak from MY personal experience. I have NEVER in my life gotten unemployment, wellfare or food stamps. I have not recieved any charity from a church. I left home at sixteen and never looked back, so my parents have never been a safety net. I have been wildly successful and I have fallen on hard times. When I couldn’t find a job that met my income requirements HERE in Virginia, I packed my shit, drove 1200 miles (from the “north” to the “south”) and lived in a tent while I paid for my own certifications that enabled me to enter another industry where I had a complimentary skill set for. I knocked on doors until I found a job in a city where I knew NO ONE. I found a job, but I stayed in the tent. I later moved to a shack. I sent the money I earned home to feed my family and meet my responsibilities. I didn’t go bankrupt - in fact, I didn’t miss a single payment on any of my obligations. Nor did my children go hungry or want for anything. I consider MY SELF to be a fiscal conservative and that’s how we roll. THAT’S my definition.

If you live in a “red” state and are on wellfare, then I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t really care. But by MY standards, anyone sucking the gub’ment dick is NOT a conservative. And that includes farmers, the oil industry and all the other “entities” that want special treatment or free shit that comes out of the money the I’VE paid in taxes. Fuck them, they are not conservative. I LIVE MY VALUES.

I am also strongly supportive of many things that are considered to be a part of the “liberal” agenda. I really could not care less about what goes on behind closed doors between two consenting adults. I think if gay couples get married and their partner dies, then the estate tax will increase the gov’t coffers just like the rest of us. I think that ALL of us (with the exception of the third ruffian) are immigrants and/or decend from immigrants and that the concept of “illegal aliens” just robs us of the taxes they would pay if they had an ID number. Not to mention the billions we spend tracking them down and deporting them. Fuck that, tax them all, and shut down companies who employ people and don’t take taxes out of their pay checks. That would quickly solve the issue.

As for the “war on drugs”, don’t get me started. Fucking legalize it, and TAX IT. How many BILLIONS of dollars have we spent incarcerating people for years cuz the had an ounce of weed? Fuck that shit. I am ALL about giving people freedom, so long as they don’t tread on others. When they do, they are punshished. Simple.

If you eliminate wellfare, two things will happen: 1)they will become motivated and find work, or 2)they will starve, or try to rob someone and get shot - I’m fine with either outcome.
