I confess that I put beef bone broth in my coffee this morning vs cream, and there is NO going back.
Beautiful lil dudes!
I confess that I bought a very nice drum set, and now worry about the expectation that sets up for people before they hear me play them. They are too nice for my level of play. I just couldnāt pass them up when I saw them on Craigslist for less than a third of what they are new. About 2 years old, and probably played for about 5 hours (based on stick marks on the stock drum heads).
Second confession, I recorded myself playing āWhen the Levee Breaksā a cover by Led Zepplin, and that felt kinda like the first time you hear your voice in a recording. It hurts that I canāt blame the drums anymore.
Both of my brothers are insanely musically talented.
It completely passed over me. I struggle to even play the triangle.
I lack a lot of stuff for music. I canāt sing at all. I never played anything in any sort of organized matter (HS band, or any sort of lessons). I did always like drums though. Iād watch the drummers more so than guitar or bass when seeing a band.
In HS a buddy gave up drumming and I traded him my PS2 for his set. I didnāt really have anything organized for practice. Just played along to the radio mostly, and then started playing with a buddy of mine.
I hadnāt drummed much for the last decade or so, but a few friends started a metal band, and the drummer had more of a desire to learn guitar better and sing, so I started playing drums for them. It isnāt the easiest material to pick up. He is a really good drummer, so a lot of the complex stuff is tough for me. I think if I can get my practice routines improved that I should be able to improve a lot in the coming months, or at least that is the hope.
My youngest brother started playing drums at 5 years old. He could just naturally do it. He is completely ambidextrous too with a legit photographic memory. He graduates med school with a PHD as well in December.
He played snare for a few years in band until it bored him to death and went on and played heavy metal / rock stuff.
I think having a background in HS band or marching band helps a lot more than many realize. It is years of forced practice (sometimes quite a bit). It helps with mastery of the basics (stuff like the drum rudiments). I also think starting so early makes keeping time feel a bit more natural.
I canāt do it to save my life.
You clap on the 1 and the 3?
There is a reason that many drummers donāt like playing with a metronome. Most people donāt like being told they are wrong. Itās even worse being told youāre wrong 150 times a minute.
Iāve noticed I can keep time for percussion pretty well, but timing for singing eludes me. I seem to always start a bit late. Karaoke is rough for me. Both off time and off tune.
Weāve decided that anyone thatās willing to do what it takes can deadlift 500.
Can anyone get a record deal, provided they work hard enough?
Is this even necessary nowadays when you can self publish on streaming sites?
Is a deadlift even necessary nowadays?
Is anything necessary, man? I mean, open your eyes dudeā¦
(didnāt have a mary jane leaf emoji)
The white in me shines there.
That is like⦠just ⦠your opinion⦠man.
A quick search told me Justin Bieber got started on Ewe Tube and Chance The Rapper has never signed with a label.
So maybe you donāt need a record deal if you smoke weed.
I confess the little guy in the bottom pic is more jacked than I am.
(ā¦I confess that that confession means I might need to start a poor genetics threadā¦)
I confess reading that makes me believe the previous owner was just as self aware as you, but way less determinedā¦
He mentioned that he bought a different kit off of Craigslist. It didnāt really add up to me, because it looked like he played this one so little in the two years he had it. I saw the kit he bought on CL, and it was about 3K used. Pretty high end, but not any nicer in quality than the one he sold (had more drums though). He basically bought a $4500 kit (new price) for $3000 and sold me his $3200 kit for under $1000.
I figure it was just rich people stuff. Guy was in a very nice neighborhood. Huge yard and house, with about $150K in BMWs in the driveway.
Both are muscular strong little dudes.
I was too as a child. I was 35 lbs. at a year old.
Both are following well in my footsteps ![]()
Now, if I can just get them to avoid my mistakes.
(dumb) Rich people arbitrage -he realized, immediately, that the set he sold you was not up to the task of expressing the robust range of his musical talent.
