Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 2)

I just ate 4 chicken legs. With buttered bread as a side.
I will be unstoppable at the gym tomorrow.

But the confession is: Would there have been a fifth, I would have finished that too.

Congratulations?

Do you lift because you are a lifter, or are you a lifter because you lift?

These things require examination of your spiritual condition rather than physical.

Compete.

Someday we get old and start “exercising” to maintain health and try not to die. Sure. Until that point, I want to “train” for something, and I’ve always found that a competition is the best driver there is. I can say “oh I want to get a strong squat”, but it doesn’t motivate me nearly the same as “I’m competing in a powerlifting meet in 3 months, I NEED a strong squat.”

I’m definitely a mediocre lifter, but I was a pretty competitor wrestler when I was younger, and I feel like this mindset really proves it’s point when it comes to sports. If I went to wrestling practice 5 days a week for 3 hours a day just so I could go to wrestling practice, I would have quit the sport within a week. Practices sucked, and some days you just did not want to do it. But it wasn’t just practice, there were meets, and the thought of putting it on the line really made all the work seem not only manageable but exciting.

My two cents anyway. Best way to stay hungry is to compete.

IDK man, it’s hard for someone else to tell you why you should do something when YOU don’t know why you want to do it lol.

3-4x per week training seems to be the most sustainable weekly training density for hypertrophy purposes, without sacrificing progress by training only 2x/wk.

I have been giving it thought these past few days

Fuck that  Especially since it’d be twice as many sets since you have to do both arms.

The thing is, I don’t care for bodybuilding or strength sports. MMA gets me excited to train (once I’m medically cleared to go back to it), but with my condition, it’d be idiotic for me to take a fight, as fun as it’d be. Then again, anything MMA-related is idiotic

Honestly, what Brian Alsruhe/@Alpha does is closest to what gets me excited.

It’s becoming increasingly hard for me to respect someone who plays video games for a ridiculous amount of time during the day.

Especially a somewhat grown man.
What are you fucking 8 years old?

(Specifically referring to my roommate lol)

I confess that I was pleasantly surprised at the discussion in gender studies class today.
The piece was on “body positivity” but most of my classmates were not in favour of current body positivity movement and in favour of “body neutrality” and just not talking about anyone’s body regardless of size

Perhaps there is hope after all

Is this on a regular basis?

sometimes people just get burnt out. I’ve been incredibly unproductive these past two weeks

Ive conclude the breaking back in phase is the worst part after a significant layoff from under a bar.

@QuadQueen - is this winter ever going to end? You’re probably getting similar to what I am.

I think we got 7-8 inches of snow on Friday. It’s now April and we’ve got another possible 18-22 inches coming this week.

I wonder if someone could build a training program centered around shoveling snow

Dude, for REAL. Why do we live here again? If this week isn’t the final assault, I may have to consider a move. LOL

I guess I’d prefer blizzards over earthquakes, forest fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, or water shortages, haha.

In fairness, no better time for sled drags.

I legit had a dude lament to me that they couldn’t do their sled dragging because it was too snowy. When I asked them why they didn’t just get a snow sled and take it dragging, their mind was blown.

Earthquakes ain’t so bad.

I am slightly upset I know these exist.

Confession is, I did not put them back on the shelf when my husband put them in the cart at Costco. They are as amazing as they sound.

I recently found out that a jackass with completely rudimentary knowledge of relational databases without knowledge of how to use a spreadsheet can create a working app with AppSheet. I meet the 3 criteria so I went and tried it. Did not bother before because I assumed I would need to know how to use spreadsheets. Churned out 4 basic apps in 2hrs. DEPLOYABLE+ SCALABLE. Skynet is coming. Judgement Day looming

I confess that after nearly 15 years of outright pretending that steady state cardio did not exist, I’ve just now realized my music is FAR too angry to listen to while riding a stationary bike.

Takeaway: LISS cardio is meant for people with stable mindsets
 AKA not me.
