As someone who teaches in higher education, I am amazed that none of the graduate programs require ā€œteaching coursesā€ during a PhD. I took a ton of extra classes, watched seminars, and did workshops to make sure I was prepared to teach. Most of my colleagues just walk in, talk in monotone for an hour, and then leave. And yet, they make so much more money than me…

It helps when they’re paying you for the help/advice. lol

I think I mentioned it in another thread, but when friends aske me for gym help - I tell them it’ll be $5.

When they come to me with the money, I give them the advice and refuse their money. It was only to see if they actually wanted advice.

The woo woo scammers call it an energy transfer. Your energy in the form of money for my energy in the form of advice. Energy must be exchanged in order for the universe to stay in balance.

I confess that I am going to betray my heritage.

I was previously following in the footsteps of great lifter and great eater Pat Casey, in my celebration of meatloaf sandwiches.

And then, this fateful week, I decided to pack quesadillas for lunch instead of sandwiches.

Folks: the quesadilla is the superior ā€œanabolism delivery mechanismā€. It is rich in super rare amiƱo acids.

Now I just need to find a lifter from Mexico to idolize…

Career criminal checking in.

Now, I have never been arrested, but I probably should have been like infinity times in my younger days.

The best teachers I always had were ones that actually worked in the real world outside of academia in what they were teaching.

I loathed and hated just about every teacher I had that was strictly an academic. There were maybe 1 or 2 exceptions my entire schooling career.

I agree wholeheartedly. One of those things that I can easily consume in unusual quantities.

:+1: to amiƱo’s.

My condolences. Teaching in higher ed was my reason for getting a PhD, so I went out of my way to get as much experience as possible. However, I caught a lot of flak from an advisor for taking time away from the lab. I was just thinking ā€œWhere do you think new grad students come from?ā€

I confess I just ordered a Gopro 11 mini to record more workouts and I kind of dislike myself for that (I think ā€œfitness influencersā€ in general are terrible outside of the true pros in the industry, like Mountain Dog, Thibs, etc…)

I already have a GoPro max for those cool 360 shots (haven’t used it too much) and my excuse to buy the mini is that I am going to Alaska this summer and want to capture as much as possible. Oh and the camera was 200 off.

Totally about to drop my Biology lab because 16 hours of course credits sound great until it turns out to be 20 hours of on campus time. Granted I don’t have much else to do but with the work from other classes, it’s proving to be super stressful. For some reason lab type settings have always proven to be a challenge for me and require a larger time commitment. Currently I’m taking the Bio course, but the lab functions independently of it. The lab is 3 hours straight but also requires like roughly 3 hours of time outside of it. I’m already struggling with the course load and that’s even without study time for other classes. We will see and trudge forward. Going to investigate is the lab is offered over the summer and might just attack it then.

Doing maths is like eating processed foods. You feel shite doing it but somehow can’t stop

Why am I such a slow eater?

You were built to balance out @heretolog on the eating scales of the universe.
