Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 2)

But then you can’t get all the attention

I thought they would get married at some point?

I confess that in reading about CrossFit, I’m struggling to understand the programming… It seems the training sessions are sporadic and overlap targeted muscles from one day to the next.

Are they just throwing darts at a board, or is there a method to the madness?

Try my training log sometime, haha.

Overlap isn’t a big deal when volume and intensity match recovery, which they get away with because everything is so varied.

I do, it just seems to match your description of “the only plan is chaos” (paraphrased) lol. The wife is interested and I could certainly use some more tools for extra work capacity to help with the cut, so it makes sense to learn a thing or two about CrossFit.
Trying to understand planned chaos as a ‘systems’ person makes my brain hurt.

Do you ever plan to work like x number days on strength and x days on skill/technique? or is it truly random?

Me personally, or in Crossfit?

CrossFit. Nothing against your methods, it just makes more sense to understand CrossFit as written, before altering it.

No worries, I didn’t interpret it as a slight: just wanted to clarify. I don’t enough about crossfit to answer.

Are you getting extra benefits? Shit, you’ve been to law school. How did you lose lol? The only 3 things I got out of it were:

  1. Getting really good at poker.
  2. Getting really good at poker.
  3. Getting really good at poker.

I confess I’ve not been going to the gym in around 5-6 months and I lost 50lbs eating like a normal person plus 1 bottle of coke a day. (I told ya’ll multiple times over the years I’ve been here this will happen.)

However, I learned that I (as in me, as in n = 1) lose more fat than muscle even when not lifting and eating crap. MUCH leaner and love handles non-existent.

I accidentally dieted myself down to my leannest/lightest in over a decade while I was in San Diego living off of fish tacos and In n Out.

Bodies be weird.

As i understand it, Crossfit is primarily a conditioning/skill aquisition program, rather than a strength/hypertrophy program so chaos is really not a problem. As far as i’m aware, Crossfitters that really want to push strength use a standard strength program from another field, then use WODs as assistance/conditioning. That’s certainly the approach of the boxes i’ve visited.

@antiquity might have a smarter answer for you, as a current Crossfitter and smart person.

Just saw RHCP perform. (I feel like that sounds brag-y for some reason, sorry.) Confession: I want to look like Anthony Kiedis when I’m 60. And to be able to move like Flea. Those dudes are probably in better shape than like 95% of 60 year old men.

I wouldn’t call Kiedis “big,” but he’s also no longer as skinny as he was in his younger/heroin days.

I confess that my “meal prep” for this week was cutting up a turkey meatloaf into perfectly portion slabs and buying a load of keto bread so I could make meatloaf sandwiches.

Because, whenever I eat them, I pretend I am Pat Casey.

But also, because I am California yuppie scum, I’m also putting sliced turkey breast and turkey bacon on them as well.

And if someone doesn’t stop me, an avocado might sneak it’s way in there too.

Any volunteers? No?

Why would we?

Avocado is far superior to mayo.

Or why not split the difference: avocado mayo

Amateur: it would of course be avocado and miracle whip

I’ve never had miracle whip
