Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 2)

It is also very repetitive and not that well written

Unless it’s Ayn Rand, in which case it’s kinda what you signed up for.

This is true. But it does require thinking correctly about the right things.

Thats where a lot of people (myself included) have been known to run off into the weeds.

It was the chicken and rice comment that kind of made me raise my eyebrows :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I know it’s out of context, but the bodybuilder ends up sounding cooler imo.

After 14 weeks on the waiting list I’ve finally ordered a concept 2 rowing machine.

Despite the cost, and wait, I’m convinced that after a brief period of use it will gather dust unless I put not inconsiderable effort into making it part of my routine or setting some sort of medium term goal.

A cardio outlet (something i need but don’t want) that isn’t running was the main impetus for the purchase.

I got one pre-pandemic and sort of use it, semi regularly, make cardio a prerequisite to training and you’ll use it more. Probably not worth the Ā£ in terms of use but it’s a cool toy.

I did take some solace from the fact that the resale value for good condition concept 2s is higher than the list price. That will inevitably change after lockdowns are fully lifted but it holds value well nonetheless.

But I will need to set some sort of challenge, like row 5k per week, to keep it in use.

Yes I think it was around Ā£800 new but second hand they were still up to about Ā£600/650 for the latest model pre-pandemic, so they don’t lose too much (which is why I bought new -might as well spend the extra and guarantee its not been abused).

I did some sprints following @Koestrizer’s plan the other day, 300m X 5 with 30 seconds rest, hit each 300m in 1 min, very nearly threw up. Can cover 2500m in 10 mins so 5k per week is an easy target, but probably a good place to start.

I honestly felt he was spreading it on kind of thick with this statement…

[Training is literally my life. 20 rep squats, amrap sets of deadlifts, and frequent maxing on bench with the conjugate method are the norm for me. I destroy my body every day]

Didn’t notice the comment late last night
ā€œaverage bodybuilder…is not a rocket scientistā€

So, where does that leave me? A guy who likes training ā€œbodybuilding styleā€ and is actually a rocket scientist.
Also, I don’t think this guy has every tried a bodybuilder’s diet. ā€œa side order of liftingā€ haha

You should tag me more often in threads in which most people don’t know me and tell them about the conditioning I do. People will think I’m in shape that way.

Haha, don’t worry I’ve got your back, everyone will think you’re a hardcore crossfitter by the end of the week!

After a year of doing pistol squats, I take a week off to do real squats, come back to do pistols again and strained my abductor on a warmup set :joy::joy::sob::sweat_smile:

I confess I may have interrupted my wife’s conference call this morning because I hit a lifetime PR on bench and screamed. Texted immediately to apologize and let her know it was a good scream and not a ā€œcome get this bar off me or I’m gonna croakā€ scream.

Talk about a hive mind set… I looked at his Facebook page and the level of nut hugging was insane.

Some calling him a GOAT and being serious about it. My question is why? Because he wrote a book? OR that he won a few bench titles in NASA wearing a early bench shirt.

Yep he was so smart in his methods he washed himself out at 38 years old.

Favorite recommendation in his book is telling guys to do anywhere from 10-15 singles at 90% of a true max.
