Eh, I have some pretty serious food protection stuff too, being youngest of five in a house where food was very scarce. We used to literally fight for food. Not like wussy slapping either, but legit attacking with objects and real intent to harm.
It has has some far reaching impacts. I hate movies where The Bad Guy purposefully eats in front of others, which is a common thing in a lot of movies. Buffets are like a real danger area, I can’t sit close to people for other family’s dinner gatherings and I don’t actually eat with my wife and son. I cook and serve them then eat separately.
When I was younger a guy in jail tried doing the big Bubba thing and took an apple off of my tray. He found out exactly how wrong that was. Legitimately though, as he was trying to express dominance.
It’s generally pretty manageable around people I trust and care about though.
When going out, there is a negotiation process between my wife and I. Half a sandwich for half a burger. 5 waffle fries for a chicken wing. We have it all planned out before ordering. It makes it less tense while eating. Also, we get more variety.
I confess to getting a touch too excited to finally reaching 16 inch arms this week.
I confess at my body fat % it’s a bit easier to have 16 inch arms.
I confess to going “American” with breakfast and cooking waffles. And eating them with eggs and bacon. It’s okay.
Yeah, I didn’t memorize the inventory before writing it out, haha. My wife also doesn’t care for the cookie butter flavor, so I’m a big liar liar pants on fire.
Perkins puts a golf ball size ball of garlic butter on their steak. Was damn impressed with Perkins steak actually. It wasn’t the best steak, but better than I expected.
Do you have a favorite nut butter? I enjoy the smooth flavor of almond butter when mixed into oatmeal, but I like the sustained energy of peanut butter.
Confession - I’ll totally start a nut butters thread in the food section if people will frequent it.
Honestly, I usually do both sides, but sometimes the only way I can finish 15 reps on the left leg is if I promise myself I can sit down after I’m done. I used to promise myself Margot Robbie if I finished a set, but I eventually realized I was lying. Sometimes 15 or so reps is just enough for one evening. Next day I lift the same reps with the right as with the left. When I do 15 + 15 right and left in one go, it can leave me a bit too amped to get to sleep. I’m also really lazy.
I like everything about almond butter except for the fact that I inevitably develop an allergy to it if I eat it too frequently. I have to basically “cycle off” almond butter to re-develop my tolerance to it. But otherwise, better macros and better taste compared to peanut butter. I haven’t had anything more exotic than that (cashew, pistachio, walnut, etc), aside from the stuff Nuts n More puts out.
I image a macadamia nut butter would be quite decadent.
We have a local farmer’s market that makes housemade nut butters and sometimes gives out samples.
Cashew tastes like a more mild pb, pistachio is amazing, walnut has a rather strange woody flavour and grittier, Macadamia butter tastes like… butter- pretty much pure fat
