Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 1)

I agree. On items where quality and consistency are part of the process, it doesn’t matter, but I do have some particular ideas of what “good” is, especially on fresh produce and meats.

Exactly! I don’t want other people picking out food.

I recall you’re quite the affishroominado. Why do you go mushroom picking? I can get some for you and deliver them right to your door!

*mushrooms may be fatal

What about emotional health? I don’t know about you guys, but burgers make me pretty damn happy. If I’m emotionally happy, then I’d consider that part of being healthy too.

Yeah, I found a loophole. Don’t care. Lol

Yeah, there are like 2 people in the world that I trust with that, and I’m one of them. :joy:

Unless I was at a dead show in the '90s. Then I’d eat anything some grungy hippy pulled out of his backpack.

Just so you know, I’ve been to Darkstar Orchestra (best dead cover band) shows in the past decade and it’s still that way.

I get a chuckle out of the people in my gym decked out head to toe in gym shark clothing. $100 pants $75 shirt $60 bag, and some $200 wild fancy shoes. and they are in a gym that’s $7 a month :joy::joy:. I saw more “normal” clothes in my last gym, that was $100 a month!

This is very “American” thing. But even though I am seeing this more and more in the UK. I’m not sure if its laziness or what - but is worrying.

More of a worry is the lack of connection they make to “gezz - I’m getting fatter”. I see them at work. Eating dehydrated bread for lunch, talking about getting Chinese on the way home, the Indian they had last night, the Kebab they will have on Saturday and Fish and Chips on the Friday.

I eat out a ton. I also meal prep though usually two meals a day. Eating out semi healthy can be done though. Today I had salmon, rice, and steamed broccoli for lunch. I also eat a lot of sushi bowls. White rice, raw salmon and tuna, and other raw veggies. Super yummy.

The only downside to eating out healthy is $$$. I guess the other downside is sometimes you get stuck eating 24 grilled nuggets and a super food salad from chick fila, which is disgusting.

Nando’s - its my go to eat out. Shame its always so busy. I also used to work at TGI Friday. And they have a policy of: If the visitor wants it and we can make it - we make it.

You can legit order 2x chicken breast and green veg in TGI. It gets expensive as they charge you 2 chicken burger and side of veg. Again - cost right.

The other place in the UK is Harvester. They do chicken and mash. Hold the gravy. BORING and I’m not sure you’d opt to eat out if this was going to be the option. But if the family is dying for restaurant food this is also an option.

I forgot if I said this already but meats definitely are an issue. Most places have a policy of giving you the freshest meat available but the packer doesn’t always give two fucks. I have gotten meat that passes it’s date the next day.

Yes, you get a refund but you gotta organise it and you lose a meal for the week.

The other thing that kills me is substitutes. Some are mind boggling or sometimes they don’t substitute when you know there are 10 brands that are exactly the same. Doesn’t seem like a big deal but that again can cost you a meal.

There’s like a dozen of these situations that all end up with a dropped meal or having to run to the store anyway.

toast?

Or lack of substitutes. We once had a bag of spuds missing because “there were no available substitutes”. The guy at the Click and Collect was so embarrassed
he walked into the shop, picked up a bag from the 15m of potatoes they had on sale and put it in the bag for free.

No - it’s a catch all term I use for all those dried out bread substitutes like Ryvita.
It not dehydrated bread in the strick term. But that all it is really. Simple carbs but no moisture.

It’s a farce really. By removing most of the moisture and thus taste it just makes it easier to market these bread substitutes as healthy as it feeds into the “it taste like crap. It must be good for me” mentality.

I confess I’m so bored with training I might just start doing HIT but the only thing stopping me now is having to count beyond 10 during a set.

Yea but being fat seems to make a lot of people emotionally unhappy. Short term vs long term.

Being healthy sucks.

Being unhealthy sucks.

Life sucks, just got to chose the suck you’re happiest to live with.

Nando’s is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy.

Perfect combination of being delicious, healthy and informal. Plus, their house red is Spier Merlot which is a great wine at a ridiculously cheap price.

I experimented with not counting reps but it is a mindfuck.

On-top of that, I spooked myself as I was in a strength block and thought what if that last set was 8 reps and therefore I would build muscle but not get stronger.
