Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 1)

Again - I know it’s a thing, but it’s definitely not ‘most’, haha.

Well?

Yes and no.

I am, by no means, a Mr @theBeth

230 lbs of twisted steel, but not near as big as I wanna be.

And, steroid free (these days)

It’s a sickness

People are seeing you all day long. The old fella gets rolled out for his 30 second song and dance and then you pack it away for the day.

Confession Time:

I’ve been doing a bunch of boxing recently. I’m nothing special and I’m not and have never been looking to actually fight, just doing it for conditioning and because I enjoy punching stuff. I also have been enjoying seeing Roy Jones Jr and Mike Tyson training again in the lead up to their exhibition match. So, for whatever reason, last night I had a dream that I got called up to fight a 54 year old Mike Tyson, which might seem comical to people who haven’t seen him training recently, but for anyone who still sees what an absolute monster he is, you’ll understand what I mean when I say I was genuinely terrified. It was a nightmare in every sense of the word - seemed to go on forever. For some reason we were getting our hands wrapped in the ring across from each other and Mike finishes up and is staring me down and shadowboxing across from me and I’m just sitting there barely able to breathe and thinking about what I’m going to do to prevent getting brain damage. At some point before the bell rung, I woke up, but it gave me a tiny bit of insight into what it must have been like to be across from a young Mike Tyson back in the day. Weird dream. Honestly scary as fuck.

For reference, check out some of the clips of Mike in recent months.

I also confess I’m fully of the belief that a 54 year old Mike Tyson would knock out Deontay Wilder in the first round. Dude can’t box for shit :man_shrugging:

Srsly…

Iron Mike is a Force of Nature.

He could do some serious damage.

Roy’s crazy taking that fight. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not taking anything away from that man, he’s in the running for one of the best ever, but his style was always hands down and relying on reaction time and head movement to win, and the minute his timing and speed dropped he got beaten, badly. There’s a general agreement to keep things civil as it’s an exhibition match, but I don’t think Mike knows how to do that in the ring.

Iron Mike, if you are reading this, love you man.

But…

I’ve watched all of his fights, and his switch is either on or off.

There is no such thing as an exhibition fight.

No kidding. Did you see his Joe Rogan interviews like 6 months apart? I know there is some showmanship there but he goes from a monk to I love to hurt people (looking like he’s just about to go balls deep into Scarlett Johansson lol)

Was it only 6 mos?

I thought it was more like a year apart.

But, yeah. What a change in direction

I’m pretty sure one of his body shots would have a mere mortal explode from both ends instantly.

I wouldn’t call him uncivil or incapable of it, but in no universe is he not super competitive. That drive to win can’t be extinguished.

Confession: I judge dudes very harshly at the gym whose arms and thighs are approximately the same circumference.

I judge anybody who wears Chuck Taylors.

Flame away!

Feeling attacked bro.

The only reason I wear a tank top to the gym is so it looks like I almost lift. If it wasn’t for the traps showing I’d just be another skinny fat DYEL bro making a fool of himself :joy:

Unless… they have huge thighs?

That is how I saw Eddie Hall training in a video I happened across.

which will be quickly, imo.

Maybe there will be a knockout, and not just two very large men grabbing each other…

Is this ever the case though?

There is a dude at my gym who is MASSIVE waist up. Like probably 19”+ arms, traps for days, cannonballs for shoulders, lats so wide I’d bet my paycheck he can fly, and the smallest legs I have ever seen in my life, like 130lb dude legs. I almost wonder if he has a medical condition they are so small. Dude rocks those 5” inseam shorts like he DGAF though!

I can’t stand Eddie and the whole thing is a joke but Thor looks like he’s never thrown a punch and is surrounded by people giving him butt smacks and atta boys while Eddie is running a no-shit training camp and learning very quickly, plus moving very fast for his size. Has a good snap to his jab. Hopefully Thor gets some hands before this goes down or he’s going to look very silly. Check both of their videos - night and day difference.
