Good point. My counter-point would be that no one ever really talks shit about sprinting and its benefits, but loads of people will talk shit about leg press.
Completely agree. There’s no other exercise that can mimic the speed, coordination and RFD demands tbat sprinting does.
Hahahah it’s a rabbit hole for sure! Appreciate your input
Just googled and read through some studies (of course, one should really take the time to analyse the results) but I found nothing but positive things like
“The main finding of this study was that the supplementary 8 weeks of low-impact and high-volume PT on 1 day per week significantly increased CMJ, triple hop distance, SBJ, PP, and 20-m sprint performance in female soccer players.”
Anyway, does that means Rippetoe is wrong? Perhaps he didn’t want to express it that way, but he sure was clumsy, and overly-dogmatic
I think that is almost on purpose, if not completely by design.
Say “People can’t xyz. Plain and simple.” and you’ll have a million people scrambling to prove you wrong till the end of time, but if he put it in purely neurophysiological terms, no one would have even been paying attention.
The
Long time ago, I had a girlfriend who wanted me to coach her. We get to the end of the session, it’s some ab thing for a couple of sets. She does the first set. Then doesn’t want to do the second. I ask if she really wants to quit this close to the end. She says she can’t do another set. I say is it painful or something? No, I’m just tired. So I say, how about if we do 5 reps? I can’t. 2 reps? Nope. What if we had a break and came back? I can’t. What if we use the machine that is easier? I don’t know how to use the machine! A few minutes on the stairclimber? I can’t do it!
I don’t think she talked to me for a few days afterwards lol Maybe she had some other thing going on that I didn’t pick up on and she wasn’t comfortable talking about but I stopped taking responsibility for other people’s results that day. I’ll lead by example and try create a great environment but the rest is you. Works in the gym, works at home, works at work (I think I gave this answer in a job interview once and I think it cost me a job, if asked these days I leave “the rest is you” bit out haha)
No idea who this is about. But the TRT forums is so childish sometimes. The whole one up man ship. If anything it proves the human body is a complicated thing. And if your going to mess with part of it - its going to bite back.
I ate 5 hard boiled eggs for breakfast today. I cooked them last night and mashed them up with tomato sauce and microwaved them this morning. The texture was awful. When my son saw me gagging in this mixture he asked me why I was eating it if it wasn’t very nice. So I pull a bicep curl and show him the fruits of my labours.
“Yeah - but your still fat though daddy.”
Confession - I still feel sick from my food 2h later and I’m questioning if its worth it.
kids are so brutally honest. My kids often tell me how much they love my cuddles, only to follow it up with, “it’s nice because you are blubbery !!” Little shits.
