100% understood. I was only offering up a different POV. Both auto regulation and measurement work. And agree - with athletes a measure is a good way to make sure they are NOT WORKING to hard. I have the issue that I would train myself to death some times. When that happens I need a prescriptive programme to ensure I don’t run my self out.

Its odd thought - I like autoregulation for CV work but never weights.

There are holes in this study. And with all studies. The systems being compared are very narrow.

You see my wife “trusts” me. But the trust is in my desire and ability to help her get the results she wants.
Not in my desire to keep her happy.

It was the same. There was no “why are we doing it like this?” or “Shouldn’t I do X”. I would load the bar, say “Do 5 reps”, she’d do it, I’d change plates, give her reps, etc.

If she asked how a set looked, I’d be honest with her, but if she was happy with it, I was happy too.

To get a confession out of this post, I confess I was just looking at raw peanut flour on amazon, because I was thinking that PBFit has too much added sugar. It’s literally a difference of 20 calories per serving. I think I’ll be ok…but now I wonder.

Oddly yes and no. She used to be very career competitive. But not so after kids.
My wives biggest single flaw was marrying me.
But if she had 2 - the second would be she thinks wanting something to work - will work.
Example - she has decided that the amount of effort she’s putting into her diet and exercise are sufficient to lose fat. And that it. The scales wont budge and the fat wont shift. But if I point out she eats too much or moves too little - then I’ll be wrong. She wont change her definition of too much food or not enough exercise based on results.

Changed to more accurately reflect my experience.

I joke (only a little) about it. I love my wife. But honestly it fucking stresses me out trying to help her. She is un-coachable

So yesterday, I had an online meet-up with the teacher that’ll be examining me this Monday, for a “question time” service he’s offering for the upcoming test. Interestingly, I was the only one to show up for it, so we had a chance to talk for about an hour; it was the first time I’d seen him, since like I said I was supposed to take this course next year so I never attended a class in person.

The man gave me a really good vibe. He sounds like a really good person, and I think he really appreciated me going the extra mile for this. He actually assigned me an extra chapter they didn’t cover in the course and told me he’s going to ask me a couple of questions about it too, but I won’t be penalized should I not answer those correctly.

Then, at the end of the conversation, he told me something: “Between you and I, it’s like you already took part of the test this morning, with the questions you asked and the answers you gave me.” I think he really appreciated my efforts. He then added, “you can pretty much consider this one a closed chapter, if you have time you might as well start taking a look at other subjects these remaining days.”

I was so happy. I actually already got through the extra chapter in about one day, haha. Now I’ll just be reviewing my notes until Monday. I’m feeling good about this one.

Good on you for putting in the extra effort man. I don’t know the university structure or environment where you are, but students very rarely attend things like that here. And because of that, professors are complacent even with the students that do attend. You probably made your professor’s day by just giving a damn about the class. Plus, you found a lower-stress way to express your knowledge about the subject, which may be an advantage for you in future classes too. Congrats!

I don’t have an eating disorder. I know this is a fun thread, but any attempts to make light of her situation gives her ammunition to downplay the severity of it.

Not that I’m an athlete, but I’ve run into this a few times. In cardiac rehab, after any amount of time on a given exercise I’d over run my max heart rate just because I have my own feeling of where I’m running my best at. Kept the physiologist that were monitoring vitals pretty busy. Then, back into the world of work, I jumped back on to my buddies tree crew(a little too soon) . Depleted and dehydrated, I started to pass out while feeding branches into the chipper. Big bad oopsie! :joy:

Anyways point being, left to self assess, I too will run myself to death.

Again - that’s the magic of hard work. It doesn’t have to elicit any immediate results, but good things just follow. This is one of those nice situations where you got an immediate pat-on-the-back.

I’d argue it’s thicker than yoghurt. Halfway between a casein pudding/paste and yoghurt is the texture of quark. It’s sold in some delicious flavourings here. Vanilla, strawberry & lime, raspberry. It goes well on its own, it goes well with nuts, berries, fruits, on pancakes. The neutral flavour can even substitute for créme fraiche or greek yoghurt in coleslaw etc. 11% protein. Some carbs (from the dairy). Not sure how the quota is between casein and whey, as there is a specific one sold which is 50/50.

I was more hoping to highlight that obsession, when applied rationally, can produce exceptional results; whereas obsession applied in absence of rationality will kill you.

How many servings per week, and how important is it?

Definetely thicker than yoghurt. Years ago I heard somewhere that the protein in it is mostly casein, but I haven’t got any reliable sources.

I can count the days I’ve not eaten 500 grams of it (with some milk because otherwise it’s insufferable) before going to bed in the last seven or eight years on about two and a half hands.

I use a protein scooper instead of the recommended 2 tablespoons, so I honestly couldn’t say. I go through a LOT of it though. At this point, getting a PBFit sponsorship would be dandy, haha.

I’m honestly contemplating just stopping protein powder and sticking with liquid egg whites and peanut flour for post workout nutrition. Mix it in with “amazing grass” supplements and get in a bunch of nutrition. I’m getting weird as I get older.

That isn’t out of the question. You check a lot of the boxes for sports/performance/lifestyle products, minus the dubious distinction of “sponsorship whore” (just my observation).

It’s crazy how much stuff works and how much doesn’t.

Appreciate it dude. I’m technically already a sponsored athlete, but as you note, can bring myself to do the supplement whore thing. I’ll just pay the same as everyone else, haha. I think social media really made sponsorships just suck.
