I’ve been using Quest protein lately since it’s what’s convenient at the grocery store. Tastes pretty good and blends very nicely, it’s maybe the finest protein I’ve ever used. Feels like flour.
Both the chocolate and vanilla milkshake flavors are winners.
I think I remember reading somewhere before that you exclusively use MD… I do too. I have tried 8-10 different protein powders, and all of them twisted my stomach up and gave me absolutely horrendous gas and diarrhea.
Haven’t had that once with MD. I don’t really care for the taste of any protein powder, it’s all way too sweet IMO, but it’s drinkable and zero gut issues. It’s the only one I’ll ever buy again.
I think I’m paying about $5 more for the Quest as opposed to the other options at the store. IIRC the servings per container and protein per serving are about equal.
I was getting clearance stuff from a supplement store in town since the deals were great, but I haven’t been over there since Covid became a thing.
Confession: I had a nice chuckle when I was finishing up ‘Complete Keys to Progress’ and the company I work for was name dropped in an article.
I have tried a many over the years. I definitely agree it all tastes too sweet, but none of them can compare to the taste of MD. First time I tried it I gave it a scathing review on one of my earlier logs after mixing it with water and chugging it. Now I won’t but anything else.
If you want to gain weight look up john meadows concoction bowl. Instead of chocolate syrup dump in a scoop of MD. Don’t blame me if you get addicted!
Nah. Copy/paste job. And sweets were never my weakness. Show me that steak scene from “The Great Outdoors” and I might have issues, haha.
Leads me to a semiconfession of dinner last night. Did burgers. Beef for the kiddo, turkey for the mrs, salmon for me. I really like the salmon burgers, but taking the real cheese out of the package to put on my family’s burgers (vs the reduced fat stuff I use) gave me pause as the wonderful aroma hit my nose. I had no idea how good swiss cheese could smell.
I made a thread maybe a week ago and got some great advice on how to get more cals in throughout the day from pwn, flap and Chris Ottawa. Added two 2 scoop protein shakes with milk, protein cereal post workout/pre-dinner, and a protein bar (usually the metrx kind because high cal) early afternoon on top of my typical day of eating.
Nervous mostly because i have been feeling hungry more often the past week, no idea why, and I’m concerned I’m still not eating enough to gain weight.
I confess that if the scale reads anywhere between 203-206 I’m going to eat it.
Lol my typical measurements include heaping spoonfuls, package, or fractions of a gallon.
I try once a week to just do a complete binge until I’m disgustingly bloated, normally on weekends, and it’s typically taco bell. I’ll eat my normal stuff throughout the day and then after dinner I’ll demolish it, sitting at the dinner table sweating my ass off until it’s all gone. I can’t imagine doing that all week and going back to working after. But I guess if that’s what it takes…
I always like to nerd out over the fact that, for some reason, whenever Dave re-tells the story, he omits what was most likely the most important part: eat 2 Hershey’s candy bars every 1-2 hours. The idea was, since it’s a pure chocolate bar, you could just put it in your mouth and let it melt, so even though you were still full, no chewing was involved. It was supposed to keep your insulin spiked and humming the whole time, and ties in with J M Blakely’s “Hyperpalatability” idea.
Taco Bell is SO easy for this for some reason. I put away a 2k cheat meal one time after helping someone move, and the only thing that stopped me from eating more was a vague awareness that I should.
I did exactly this when I ran Coffinworm and it made me absolutely miserable. I did gain about 8 pounds in 9 weeks though. Coulda auditioned to be the Sta-Puft Marshmallow Man for the new Ghostbusters…
