Wow… what is it with guys seeking advice and having it become like pulling teeth to learn out basic information regarding themselves or their program ?

I confess I’ve never understood why this is considered a necessary part of the whole “working out” thing. Might be my fault that I can only focus on one thing at a time.

At least with exercise, there is the “reward” of those endorphins post workout.

Some exercise, some sunshine, and I’ll get by with a little help from my friends…

Every time I see the “Show Off Your Pets” thread title I think it’s dick pics for a second.

My brother and his wife came over tonight to drop off homemade ginger beer. During their visit, I mentioned that I need to lose about seven pounds. My sister-in-law gave me the usual “you’re crazy” look and I told her it’s easier to lose seven pounds than 20.

People don’t realize the power of damage control.

Especially as we age … that 7 lbs gets harder to lose at 37 than 27 …

Or 47…

I dunno if I’m about to hatch from my blubber jacket and emerge like a beautiful muscular butterfly or what, but I’m doing more and more, eating about the same/maybe a little better/less and my weight isn’t budging.

Never had this experience in my life.

I might visit these forums every day if that were the case

When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain.

Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine. For example, the feeling that follows a run or workout is often described as “euphoric.”

Yeah thanks I know what endorphins are.

Same as sneezing gives a feeling similar to that of Bella Hadid hanging off the end of your knob.

You must do some really soul sucking hard mofo workouts

So I casually found myself looking at bars from Rogue and Elitefts. I got overwhelmed at the fact that there’s so many options even for just the regular 20kg bar. Definitely felt like I didn’t know shit about lifting. The Eleiko website was more manageable, it’s just weightlifting bar vs powerlifting bar (which I assume the PL bar has more aggressive knurling). The prices on the eleiko ones were a different story. Instant nope. Lol.

Seriously though, if all I want is a regular 20kg bar with knurling that’s just right (not too aggressive), what should I be looking for from Rogue?

Or not hard enough?

Though to be honest if I don’t get this alleged “runner’s high” after 75 minutes of running I doubt I ever will.

The only feeling I’ve gotten after exercise is “thank fuck that’s over for another day” which I doubt is very similar to a morphine high…

Half the time during hard workouts, I just mentally zone out and let my body do its thing

I have the Ohio Bar from them - black zinc and the knurling is pretty good. Only back up to pulling 275, but my hands don’t feel like they’re getting flayed by tiny caltrops but also not smooth. Good grip on them.

I also purchased the same bar about 6-7 months ago through advice from people on the forums. The knurling is ok and the finish looks cool, and hasn’t chipped or anything yet despite me never cleaning it or performing any upkeep on it. I keep mine in an unconditioned space so humidity and stuff went into my reasoning to get the finish.

I think, personally, the knurling could be more aggressive… but this is coming from someone whos hands are pretty rough.

The real big difference is, do you want center knurling so it stays on your back for squats, or do you not want center knurling so that it doesn’t tear the crap out of your chest for cleans.

If the latter, go for an echo bar. I got one off their boneyard and it’s a quality bar. If the former, I think the Ohio is their power bar.

Ditto

Probably wouldn’t mind it - you know, build up those calluses again

This is exactly how I feel, haha. Done sprints, long distance running, CrossFit, “normal” lifting, soccer…never once finished something and felt like my body was really feeling good. Just sweaty, out of breath, and tired.
