I think there are 2 factors at play. The obvious one is Hollywood generally likes softer looking men, for . . .reasons.
But secondly - there aren’t any charismatic bodybuilder actors anymore. Look at Arnold vs Momoa.
I suppose you could argue that wrestling stars like The Rock, Dave Bautista, and John Cena kind of took over that typecast, but it still doesn’t feel the same. I think Alan Ritchson is the strongest contender for roles like he-man currently.
Looking at your photo again, I think there should be an arm to sword ratio that action heroes need.

Honestly I didn’t even like Dolph as Heman when I was a kid. He was too lanky whereas heman was dense and muscular. This new guy… pshhh not even close.

Apropos of absolutely nothing, one of my clients expressed having a huge thing for him, and it sort of blew my mind. His face is completely lacking in expression, and I don’t think he’s ever laughed on Reacher. CAN he laugh? No one knows.
So…yeah. That’s all I have to say for now on this topic.

I was literally coming into this topic to say he seems like the obvious choice. Perhaps to the point that it’s TOO obvious, and the concern would be watching Thor play He-man.

Whenever I see him I just think of Thad from blue mountain state… which was a great show, but I understand it couldn’t air in today’s political climate

If somebody rides a tiger into battle, I would expect, at the very least, that he would look like he could chop a horse in half swinging a greatsword.
Longways too. Not some sissy cut from back to belly. This guy shouldn’t need guile, cuz he has gunz like a battleship. Some weird little sidekick can do the thinky stuff.
