I have been trying to enter a competition near me and have gotten no responses, I have tried to email the promoters from their contact info on the NASGA site, is there a different place to get better contact info?[/quote]

Good job. How long/heavy was the caber?

Impressed with the 13’ WOB - I just missed 12’ in my first games but am hoping to reach it next time around.

I think the caber was 12’? Maybe 100-120? It was not much of a challenge, I just need to work the movement, thanks for the comments.

I have a question. Do people wear their kilt traditionally at these events (commando)? Because that would make for a hell of a show with some of these events using twirling. Haha.

You know what those WFD #s tell me? You have a lot more in you once you get the technique. Brute strength is awesome but it doesn’t last forever. Great first games!

ld13: Definitely not traditional. It’s a family show

Yeah, apparently my wife wanted to boost my ego or something, on NASGA the results show that was a 21’ throw, but I finished off the season with a 24’ toss, and that was all with one change to my throwing form I gained 3’, once I am able to get a second turn and not foul I think I will add some decent distance. Lots of work to do.

Anything over 20’ is great for someone just starting out with the 56# WFD. Takes a while to learn how to move that bad boy.

Hey, hel320, I also live in Northern Alabama and would like to get in touch with people who do highland games. What city do you guys practice in?
