First Bloodwork on TRT, What Tests?

Hi Guys,

I’m 41, male, 5’5", Obese, and have been on 200mg T - Enanthate per week for 12 weeks now, injecting EOD.

I want to know what blood tests you guys recommend I should take?

What tests are the absolute must and which ones are optional and can be delayed for now?

Any help will be appreciated.

The Total T, Free T are pretty much mandatory, SHBG, estrogen are optional at this stage. Since you’re at the upper end for a replacement dosage and on an EOD protocol, I would get CBC.

Got it, I’ll get SHBG, Estrogen and CBC tested too, thanks man

Also when we say Estrogen do we mean full estrogen tests or just estradiol (E2)?

BTW my starting Free Testosterone level was

0.189 ng/dl

Also I can fit in a few more tests, I’ve researched out the following tests from internet that people on TRT usually get tested for, if it’s not too much trouble, could you please prioritize them in order from most important to least important? Or add any if needed. It’d be immensely helpful.

01 - Cortisol

02 - FSH

03 - TSH

04 - Hemoglobin

05 - Prolactin

06 - Lipid profile

07 - Complete Metabolic Profile

08 - Hematocrit

09 - Albumin

10 - WBC

Thanks again

Since you are taking testosterone, you do not need FSH or LH as those hormones will be suppressed.

Hemoglobin, hematocrit and the WBC are included in a CBC study.

Albumin is included in a CMP.

If you do not have a doctor, lipids and the CMP are routine exams for general health purposes.

At this point, while SHBG is interesting, your freeT will tell you what you need to know. You just need E2. Unless indicated, cortisol and prolactin are not necessary. Prolactin is usually checked by doctors as part of an initial workup.
