Good work! After all that has been going on in the past few months too. I’m glad you are happy with your results, you set the bar high for us to follow you.
Now rest and eat!

Edit:

Here ya go…

First workout since Chemo started Monday…

Made it to the gym for a workout tonight ;-)…

Military Press
Bar x 6

70 x 5
75 x 5
80 x 5
DB bench 3 x 10 - 25, 30, 40
Lat pull down 3 x 10 - 55, 55, 60

That was it…not a bad start

It’s a great start.

Chemo can never kill your spirit.

Firebug,

I am just catching up on your last meet and saw some of your videos. You are incredible! I agree wholeheartedly with Yo Momma, it is quite clear than chemo has made your spirit even stronger! You are such an inspiration… IN AND OUT of the gym! Hope you are feeling well!

Thank you. I have my days right now. When I feel well enough and have enough energy I head to the gym and get a workout in, other wise I take it easy, rest and try to eat right*(that last one has been a trick to manage lately).

Here’s my training for the past week or so…

2 Mar 09

Incline bench 3 x 10 30, 35, 40

Seated Row 3 x 10 70, 75. 85

3 Mar 09
Bleachers…only 20, cause we got a call, then another and another…busy day
5 15 27
5 51 80
11 07 07 Total time

4 Mar 09…rest day

5 Mar 09
Squats

Rest 1 minute

Squat 3 x 3 at 165 x 3 rounds – one minute between sets, two minutes between rounds.

I love how you’re on chemo and still work out harder than 95% of the population. You are awesome!

Thanks. I feel like I am slacking tho :(.

Today’s training…

Iso extreme Lunge – supposed to be 5 minutes straight per side – but I ended up taking several sets to get to five minutes.

Plate DL 5 sets of 3 at 135 off of a 45lb plate

Speed Squat 10 sets of 5 at 85 lbs

Close grip bench 10 sets of 3 with a 10 second pause on my chest at 85 lbs 45 second rest interval

Iso extreme preacher curls 3 sets of 1 minute hold – 60 rest interval

Standing Military press 70, 75, 80 for sets of 3

DB Bench 3 sets of 10 – 35, 40, 45

Lat pull downs 3 sets of 10 – 75, 85, 90

Is a plate deadlift pulling from a deficit standing on a plate?

I just donated in honor of my late husband, who died of a different kind of cancer. Good luck with the race! I am brand new to T-Nation and this thread moves me greatly.

First, I am very sorry for you loss. I am sure he fought a good fight. There is not much I can say to help ease your pain, but do know that the pain will ease for you…as his pain has eased for him.

Second, Welcome to T-Nation!

Last, but not least, Thank you for your support.

Malinda Baum

Thanks so much for your kind words.

It was a two year long battle. We fought the good fight, and he did not survive. We had a lot of time to think about the “what ifs” and to make our peace. I had time to get used to the idea, and by the time he died, he was in such pain that the end was actually a relief.

He was very clear with me that he wanted me to live, not just survive, after he was gone, and I am doing my best to honor that.
