Firearm Fundamentals: Tips and Advice

LOL!! That visual is hilarious.

That’s very considerate. I usually try to do something along those lines to make noise. I don’t want anyone to think they’re being followed. And a stealthy person wouldn’t clear their throat loudly. :joy:

This line of thinking is peak masculinity. Men are by nature are protectors and providers. Or they used to be at least.

So that’s why I’m baffled and disappointed that the woman’s video was “triggering” for so many men who think what… that she should have invited him over for a chat? Or waited till he got closer and listened patiently to his requests?

Muggers love that plan.

It just seems like so many people would prefer a dead woman than a loud one.

Yeah, I see parked cars in the background. She did say she was alone in the parking lot, so I’d give her the benefit of the doubt that it felt creepy.

She said that after she yelled at him, he started to walk away. So yeah, continuing to yell probably wasn’t necessary. I agree that she shouldn’t be ridiculed for it.

But I actually don’t think daylight makes parking lots safe. I just read about a mother of two who was shot and killed in broad daylight at a grocery store parking lot. It was under totally different circumstances, but it made me realize that irate people don’t mind being seen in the light of day of it means they can get back at someone who wronged them.

This reminds me of some feminist clap-trap I had to read in freshman year of college about how the patriarchy trains women to smile and be polite, even to their own detriment. Years later trying to get my younger sister, or various women I dated, or now my wife to at least carry some damned pepper spray with not much success I think that feminist writer was on to something.

Women are trained to not be assertive in their own self defense, to ignore their own intuition when someone is giving them a creepy vibe. Now incel scum like CasuallyGreg are trying to force women back into that box.

As the father of two daughters, the only real feminists are pro-gun.

Me & wife were watching a period piece a while back and the phrase “making a fuss” became a running joke between us.

Like, woman is caught between difficult/life threatening situation and “making a fuss”. Of course she chooses difficult/life threatening!

Nobody wants to make a fuss!

 Yeah. I’ve been abducted a few times. More recently I was even coerced into using coconut cofee mate.

Absolutely! It’s the great equalizer.

This is so dang true.

Her timing and delivery were off-putting for a lot of people. So they dogpiled.

But I get the impression that men are sensitive to and on the lookout for “Karen” videos. They have some reason to be given the things that have gone viral recently: man glances at a woman in the gym; woman makes video accusing man of being a predator.

Social media is full of exaggeration, so I kinda see why people are hesitant to believe her.

We need friends like this!

I don’t have any issue with the way she responded, if she felt threatened, she responded the best she knew how. However, this is an example of how hard it is the judge someone else’s “fear of death or injury”. The legal phrase of “I was in fear for my life” is the foundation for a self-defense shooting. No one can know the mindset of a stranger. The guy could have been asking for directions or planning a rape. It is on you analyze and prepare.

To me, she appeared to be very scared and almost on the verge of panic, not a good thing facing violence. Just based on that short example, I do not believe she has confronted much aggression. She would benefit from some type of martial arts training, not to be able to kick ass, but to learn to deal with supervised aggression. It will allow her to control her anxiety if a future situation occurs. Keeping calm is the great cornerstone of survival. I also believe she would benefit from Tony Blauer’s “ controlling fear training”.

Seriously good things to consider. What’s crazy is how a person with good manners can seem so harmless… but wasn’t Dahmer super polite?

Analyzing people is tricky because most women don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings or make assumptions. So that’s the part that’s hard: loving people without becoming a victim.

I’m betting that young woman is not used to yelling at sketchy people. So she made the video because she was proud of overriding her natural instincts. I also saw somewhere that she’d been reading Gavin De Becker’s stuff.

This is all incredible advice. I could use that too.

From Mr. Kennedy:

Shooting a suppressed weapon offers a range of benefits for the shooter and their surroundings. One of the most significant benefits is the reduction of noise levels. In the middle of the night this is BIG deal. Suppressors serve to reduce the sound of the gunshot, making the shooting experience more comfortable and less harmful to the shooters ability to think clearly. This is particularly beneficial for nighttime home defense situations where clear thinking and stealth are critical to the mission’s success.

Another benefit of shooting a suppressed weapon is the mitigation of recoil. Suppressors help to reduce the amount of recoil when firing a weapon, making it easier for the shooter to maintain accuracy and control. The felt recoil is also less violent, leading to a more comfortable and enjoyable shooting experience.
