I just got email notice that Finibars are no longer available and my subscription is canceled. Help me find an alternative. I love these and the fuel they give me first thing in the morning before my training.
A little update: It looks like FINi bars will be available in August. Hopefully even early August.
I believe they will be moving from a 24-pack to a 12-pack.
I hope it’s early August!
Did they just run out? And why moving to 12-pack?
Any new updates on the FINibars?
This outage has me STRESSED! There is no reasonable alternative to the FiniBar.
I’m right there with ya!!
I did create my own Protein Energy Bar recipe that copies almost exactly the macros of the FINibar. Here’s the recipe if anyone is interested. I’ve been using this the last two weeks and plan to make more until FINibar is back in stock.
Makes 12 bars:
360g Oat Flour (I use Bob’s Red Mill)
180g Metabolic Drive Vanilla Protein
252g Pure Honey
138g Natural Peanut Butter (I used Richard’s Creamy Natural PB)
Directions:
Mix everything together in a stand mixer of food processor. It will be pretty dry. Add water until you reach a sticky, dough-like texture. Put in a pan and bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
**you don’t have to bake them, but it helps hold them together well. I baked them for 15 minutes this first batch, but I will back it off to 10 or a little less this time to keep them more moist.
Cut into 12 bars that are approximately 85g per bar in weight.
I applaud your “getting to yes” here, and your use of whole foods and minimal processing here.
Given that isomatulose is a part of the “magic” of Finibars, ever consider employing isomatulose powder in place of/alongside the honey?
I forgot to post the macros!
1 85g bar:
300 calories, 17g Protein, 42g Carbs, 17g Sugar
I researched and saw that honey does have or has some of the effect of isomatulose. I may be wrong, but it was the most readily available ingredient I could get easily from the grocery store.
Oh for sure: honey is pretty baller as far as a sweetener goes. Just something else to look for on amazon.
I am currently searching for the isomaltulose powder and I am not having any luck. Even Amazon…
Huh, damn, looks like it’s off the market. I was able to find it a few years ago when I was looking for a different sort of weight gainer. Whelp: disregard.
I think honey is my best bet. Thoughts?
I’m really not a carb guy. I don’t ever consume them: not really my place to speak.
Imagine a truly low carb protein bar… The Carnivore style snacks are outrageously overpriced. I took a bunch of meat sticks and Keto Bricks with me to London. Great, inexpensive options.
I figure a low carb protein bar is just beef jerky or pemican.
Try searching for palatinose. It’s the same, just a different name.
Me too… just gotta read labels. Most are packed with sugars
I tried that rabbithole too and couldn’t find anyone selling it direct from an initial look.
