It’s from a vegetarian source.

thanks Brian

So, in terms of the new Anaconda protocol, the FINiBARs are used as the carb source for your workout–are they high glycemic overall or lower in glycemic/insulin response? That is, is the traditional insulin spike coming from the FINiBARs or just the hydrolyzed casein proteins? It’s my understanding that hydrolyzed casein is pretty insulin spiking.

I haven’t detected any bitterness.
Dark Chocolate are incredibly nice tasting, anyone who disagrees should just punch themselves in the balls right now.
Well thanks but I’ll pass, I do not like Dark Choc at all. I love the new Peanut Butter texture though. I could eat those all day. Luckily my GF doesn’t mind finishing the Dark Choc.

Now are FINiBARs something you can have later at night if you are feeling hungry or should they be avoided then because of the 15(?)g of carbs?

That depends on how you view and handle carbs.

I actually go out of my way to have a small carb/protein feeding prior to bed many nights since it improves my quality of sleep. When I do this I’ll often have a FINiBAR and a scoop of Metabolic Drive.

A lot of people get religious about avoiding carbohydrates in the evening, but for the vast majority there’s no need to be so rigid.

Since I have to get up at 0440 for PT and I HATE doing PT on an empty stomach I am thinking about eating one of these as opposed to my normal banana to fight catabolism. I apologize for not reading through the 6 pages of posts before asking this question but… has anyone had any adverse affects eating these first thing in the morning then doing a metcon type workout?

I usually eat the banana first thing when I get up, and we don’t start PT until usually 0610 which gives me about an hour and a half to let the food digest. I just don’t want to eat one of these suckers, get out halfway on a 5 mile run and have my guts decide to shit my pants. Appreciate any feedback that is offered.

EDIT: Just wanted to say these things are DELICIOUS! They have also been a great addition to my pre-wo nutrition as well as eating them before PT on an empty stomach.

They were designed for endurance athletes to eat while participating, so they are meant to be easy on the stomach. I have never had a problem with them, especially with only one at a time.

Was wondering, what is “insulinogenic proteins”? The two proteins in the ingredients are milk protein isolate and whey protein isolate. Are those considered to be insulinogenic proteins? Or does it have something to due with the other ingredients in the bars?

I gave a friend who’s into biking a few FINiBARs to try out and he said he liked them. i informed him that they were originally designed for endurance athletes. after checking gout the site a bit, he is under the impression that they are now geared toward weight lifters. he wants to know if the ingredients have changed since their conception.

i will continue to eat them prior to hitting the gym either way. they are so damn tasty.

Omg right after I order SWF these are $70 for 4 boxes. Does this special end on June 6th too?

I just received my most recent order of FINiBARS and I just wanted to say they were amazing. I always order the dark chocolate flavor and this time they were much more ‘moist’ than previous orders. I swear they tasted better than brownies.

I even gave some to my friends to try; they thought it was a type of dessert up until I showed them the wrapper.

Keep up the great work.

Hmnmnnn yeah, I guess that’s why so many weightlifters and bodybuilders on here are swearing by them.

S

Mod Brian or Bill Roberts or anyone knowledgeable about this,

In general, I follow the so-called Paleo Diet (so my carbs intake is below 100 grams a day and it comes only from veggies and leafy greens. Saturday and Sunday are my cheat days during which I eat more carbs from bread and sweets. I am not trying to lose weight, by the way, my current goal is to gain muscle mass, but I am wary of carbs. I lift weights three times a week (4-5 exercises per session, 4 sets each. I do not do cardio) and I take one serving of Anaconda peri-workout (not two servings, just one serving of Anaconda and nothing else).

I would like to add more calories and a little more carbs to my current diet. It seems like the FINiBAR would be an easy way to add calories and carbs in a controlled way, but what is the best time to use it? Is it better to eat the whole bar before lifting or after, or maybe a half before and the other half after? Also, how does FINiBAR compare to SURGE Workout Fuel for what I am trying to accomplish? Which is better?

Thanks.
