I almost never train first thing in the morning but I will need to do so later this week. I’m thinking of eating a Finibar about an hour before my workout and then sipping on a serving of Surge Workout Fuel during the workout. Is that a good plan? Or is the Finibar just going to blunt the effects of the Surge Workout Fuel?
You could certainly load up with a Finibar. With your time frame, I don’t foresee any issues with it minimizing the impact of Surge Workout Fuel.
A few users have been having solid results training first thing in the morning with just Surge Workout Fuel. That might be something to consider, too.
But, if you already have Finibars, you’re not going to have any ill effects. If anything, the opposite (even more of a pump, etc).
Thanks! I’m worried that without some solid pre-training food I’m going to be ravenous by the time I start lifting (about 2 hours after I get up).
Oh, yeah. I’d definitely have the Finibar in that scenario.
Side note: Anyone else have to keep their Finibars out of easy reach in the cabinet above the fridge? No? Just me?
Your definition of first thing in the morning is different than many others if you have a 2 hour gap between waking and training.
I actually aim to be ravenous after training. Food is very anabolic: eating a lot of it after training is awesome
Yes, I’m not a morning person. Anything before 8:00 is first thing to me.
It’s not just you. I just got a box delivered today. I used to have them frequently years ago and they were addictive. TC speaking of them in a recent article got me thinking, “I need to get those again.”
I agree with SBT. Your plan sounds fine.
I do this, but it’s because I like having an empty stomach. Sounds like you’d hate it! So the Finibars would be a solid (pun absolutely intended) choice.
