you ever heard of my uncles? one rowed the Titantic, the other is what it crashed into.
honestly, I don’t care about the numbers man.
If you can do it, great.
but in response to the original question, just load a bar and start crankin, there’s no real conversion formula. and remember to warm up first.
The date on the op is october 13. It is now october 21. Have you tried bb bench yet to find out?
PS This does look like a troll job to me.
PPS I just wanted to type PPS.
PPPS My poops are bigger than yours.

Interesting read, Thanks.
So does this also hold true for say, shoulder press? Would increasing strength on dumbbell shoulder presses not carryover to barbell??

Well since we were all waiting for a video, let me just post DB bench videos I found today, the titles pretty much say it all
5’11", 141lbs, 110lb dumbells
5’11", 141lbs, 100lb dumbells
oh crap, lol here we go again
Faker than Pam Anderson’s tits.

I love when he gets up from pressing and casually says, “What was that, eight?”
WHy would there be no carryover. Expecting no carryover is even more stupid than expecting 100% carryover.
On a side note, Ive noticed that while MOST (read, nearly all) people bench more with a barbell than with dumbbells…the comparison does not hold on shoulder presses (at least seated). Ive known several lifters who could do more with DBs than with barbells there. Standing push presses though are a different creature…your barbell poundage exceeds your DB poundage.
Just thought I’d toss that out to liven up an uninteresting thread.

Dont mean to ressurrect a old thread…but i think im in the road to doing the 150s for ten… i recently did 8 reps. Once I hit ten i think ill go back to the bar and focus on incline db presses more.

Cool. Now can we see a video?
i believe i saw in an old muscle and fitness that db weight times 1.15 would give you approximately what you could lift with a barbell

I think I saw in my own mind that it is completely individual and these formulas are a waste of everyone’s time
I recently switched from db to bb. It worked out about 1 and a quarter times that of the db.
so you might be 175 x 1.25 = almost 220?

don’t judge anything by recent, you need to give your body time to “relearn” the exercise. I gained 20 pounds (each db) on my db press and I don’t know how much on my weighted dips, but when I did barbell bench press one time for shitz n giggles I was only like 10 pounds heavier than when I had stopped doing it.

i dont have a camera so i would have to go out and buy one, then Id have to get someone to video me, and then I still dont know how to post a video and if i posted a vid…no one would know if its really me or not.
excuses are the nails that build a house of failure.

If he can bench (ok we know he can’t but say just some random) 175 with one arm (and pec), why would he be only able to bench that times 1.25 using both arms? Surely the person could at least nearly get double the weight of the dumbbells (abit less due to it being less steady etc)
i dont know anything about pounds! So i didn’t know he used that on each arm!! We use kg! Much better!!!
I believe him because because its definetly possible, I’m 18 150 in the morning, I toss 120s each hand for 12 fresh, the most my gym goes up to. I put up 140s for 3 by myself, at my friends gym heavy as fuck lol)I’m on Blackpowder/War atm. If I gained 25 lbs I don’t think I would have a problem with 145s… I’m looking to see where I can compete I probally won’t win but I want to try and see how I do any suggestions? I’m from NY
Every time I ever dropped one movement in favor of another I found myself using slightly less weight when I went back to the original exercise—some times considerably less. I don’t know but I felt it involved things like neural pathways and technique.
