Fights In the Gym?

Agreed, I was just joshing.
You can’t be that much of an asshole if your a self hating white asshole= Low level of asshole on the asshole metric.

Hard to tell with that giant chip on his shoulder blocking things.

She could have just as easily asked the dude how many sets he had left instead of authoritatively telling him to “get to work” like she owns him.

It takes a condescending, pretentious douchecanoe to say that sort of thing to somebody else instead of treating them with respect.

True. She might not have been a racist, but she sure sounds like a cunt.

Exactly. But if you go around complaining that some old lady was rude to you then you just sound like a big pussy. If you can accuse her of racism instead then people will rush
to defend you.

I would have been like “shut the fuck up, granny!”

Hahahaha agree to everything just I wouldn’t swear to the old lady it’s a shame :rofl:

I’m half joking. Based on what the guy said she told him (stop chewing gum and get to work) that would be a bit of an overreaction, but it would be better to respond to her directly rather than cry for sympathy on an internet forum.

For the part in what she said, they are elderly people I mean if they don’t say something tooo insulting maybe we must accept their eccentricities sometimes especially if it’s random person?
For the rest I agree with you.

At some point a lot of elderly people, just don’t give a fuck. They lose or purposely ditch their filter. I often see footage of geezers and geezerettes giving the police a real earbashing, and getting away with it because they know no reasonable cop is going to cuff and arrest some +80 year old for something minor. No middle aged and young person would get away with the same thing.

Of course there is also the chance the old lady was just being a smart arse with dry sense of humour.

Yeah, I feel like this better explains it than that she engaged a stranger in that aggressive a manner. Just…shot out a huge insult for no reason.

Yeah, this is also very true. I would have simply ignored her, haha. She, at that point, could have either

A.) chosen to yell louder, thereby embarrassing herself in front of the entire gym, or

B.) walked away.

Shit, I would have let her make that decision. No response from me would be necessary, because people like that don’t warrant enough respect to receive one.

It’s amazing how quick we are to defend the good name of a woman who, prior to the telling of the story, we had no idea existed. Despite never having known, seen or heard of this woman, we are adamant that she couldn’t possibly be racist. It simply isn’t in her nature. Why, certainly not “Not-Racist Esther”, as I have taken to calling her since hearing the story.

N.R.E’s husband may have died in Korea, but he was part of a racially integrated unit, and he had nothing but good things to say in all of his letters home, and NRE took that message to heart. She marched in all the marches, taught at integrated schools: a paragon of equality!

Yeah could easily swap Oregon and the like for Bernie Sanders country /this…

You have a solid point. She could be racist as hell, but just really sucks at epithets and the like.

Yup, or it could be a case of a poor narrator. But people have already built up the character of this woman in their minds and that woman is NOT a racist.

Scenarios like this are why I refrain from talking to strangers in the gym

I find being constantly wheezing out of breath and sweating to help there.

Random person “Hey man, are you using the squat rack?”

Me “WHEEEZE GASP HEY! GASP I-I’mmmmmm on dry heave on set siiiiixx of t-” phone timer goes off “Of f**k my life”

I don’t know why you would say that, that’s not the case at all. There is just no reason to jump to the conclusion that she said what she said because she hates non-white or whatever group of people the guy in question belongs to. We might as well say that he is in fact the racist because he’s making unfounded allegations against a little old white lady who was just making a joke.

Jumping to any conclusions over this is stupid, and if he felt offended he would have been better off addressing her directly.

I know.

You are wrong about what you are assuming, that is my point.
