Fighting Someone High on Meth

PM me I will give you some advice, I have to deal with people out of control tweaking on meth almost every night.

just last night for example:

cops brought in a dude caught leaving a home he has just robbed, he was tweaking bad, took 4 cops and two tazzers to bring him down, they brought him to the ed in shackles for “medical clearance” for jail, we had to have him unrestrained for the exam, and this little bastard was wild as hell and i pretty much had him is an arm triangle the entire time the other nurses and medics were getting vital signs and drawing blood, etc.

same night a few hours later, tweaker breaks into the WRONG house, owner blasts him in the leg with a shotgun at close range, out flight crew goes out to pick him up, he comes in agitated and combative, nearly pulls the scalp of one of the flight nurses(grabs a chunk of her hair), took 5 of us to hold him down until we could sedate him enough to fix his leg, which was pretty much hamburger…the trauma room and us looked like one of the worst scenes from a slasher horror move at the end of that one. You guys need an air gun loaded with carfentanil darts.

Just pop 'em as soon as they get through the door.

have you ever read “Methland” by Nick Reding? if not, i highly suggest it…i think you’ll find it very interesting.
Hadn’t heard of it, but already added it to my to-read list. Just after I finish the Njal’s saga!

I don’t believe this thread got to 4 pages and I just remembered an awesome/awkward meth story.

A couple streets away from me, there’s this meth lab (poor little Kiss-Me, FL has meth labs) and one morning on my way to class, this guy came out of the motel/meth lab naked, walking down the street, masturbating.

There was a school bus in front of me too… poor, screwed up kids.

Now that we have the usual replies out of the way, let’s move onto a serious reply to a serious problem shall we?

OP, first and foremost, he IS your brother. I get where you’re coming from, but he has an illness and is obviously not in his right fucking mind. If anything, he needs more for you to be his brother’s keeper NOW, than if he were stronger, and healthy. I understand that his behavior is a source of frustration, but again, you’re dealing with an addiction/disease.

It’s not like he’s making rational choices. If he were rational, then your intended response would be justified. Consult a professional and get him some help. You may currently wish to harm him or even wish him dead, but I assure you that when he dies (and he will likely die without help), you will be regretful. And no, before any dime store psychologist trots up on his white horse, I do not have anyone in the family with this problem, so I’m not being overly sensitive to your brother’s plight. And no, I don’t and have never take crystal meth

Seriously, help him and keep trying. Stay strong, help your mom best by helping her other son who she also loves, and try your best not to hurt him - he’s already hurting.
true enough…bad enough that these idiots might hurt you, but they often bite and spit, so getting exposed to hepatitis and HIV is not fun either.

Big man, I respect your opinion, but we will have to agree to disagree . I have dealt with addicts in my own family, and i deal with them every night at work.

Addicts for the most part IMO are selfish little babies, who crave instant gratification, and when then dont get everything they want right when they want it they fill that hole with some substance, ETOH, weed, meth, crack, opiates, gambling, whatever.

to say they have a disease is an insult to the thousands of good people I treat every year who have REAL diseases, like the 21 year old kid I saw two nights ago, who had been medially discharged from the armed forces because of progressive weakness that kept him from performing in the physical requirements for his job.

turns out he had a tumor the size of a golf ball growing in his brain, and will probably die from it, soon.

that is just the way I see it, I am sure it is not how many feel, it is just my opinion.
