Fibromyalgia in Men?

fibromyalgia.

What are your thoughts on this and do you know of any men who have it? And why to do you think that is…

Its bullshit diagnosis and happens 2:1 in females to males.

Do you know what the treatment for it is? Exercise

hahahhahah no man its a legit question, but what Phil has is a true diagnosed treatable condition. Fibro is more fucking mental than anything. I have yet to see after all my years of medicine someone with Fibro that was not fucking bat shit crazy

I know you’re the nurse, but I’ve heard it’s way more than 2:1 ratio. Like practically 90% of the cases are females!

It’s been postulated to be a psychosomatic condition with no pathological orgins. I guess what I’m saying is it seems to be “all in the head”

Little more than a nurse, but that is from the book.

Narcotics and shopping!

(no kidding, everybody I’ve ever heard claim that they have it only feel well when these two therapies are combined.)

Lol, I have my masters in nursing, so basically I am equal to a Physician Assistant. In the state of Texas I can diagnose, treat and prescribe.

I normally dont like to link to webmd, but I cant link to medscape or other medical sites without logging in etc.

You sound like the perfect guy to diagnose me with whatever conditions you have to have to be prescribed testosterone and medicinal marijuana.

“Exercise is one of the most important treatments for fibromyalgia. Regular exercise will strengthen your muscles, increase blood flow to the muscles to promote healing, and increase your endurance. It also may reduce the risk of tiny injuries to the muscles that may cause more pain. Exercise seems to increase the amount of pressure that a person can tolerate at tender points. It may also help you sleep better and improve your overall sense of well-being.”

Lol thanks WebMD. I wonder if squatting is the cure to fibromyalgia. Are there strong women who get this? Could this possibly be caused by simply an epic level of weakness?

It’s always “all in the head” with you!

Hey someone changed my title!

Anyways, I know quite a few women who have fibro and its almost easy to pinpoint these people.

A little girl came to play with my daughter the other day and she was saying how her mom was laying down. Mom also cant work. Mom is overweight. I asked her if her mom had fibro…yup.

I was thinking tho that I do know lots of women with it, but have NEVER heard of a male case. I think men in general are more apt to just suck things up and live with shit. Thats just my opinion tho.

I get annoyed with this kind of stuff. I know I shouldnt as it doesnt really affect me personally, but its bothersome as many of these people end up on assistance and never work again. Not even as a sit down secretary or something. I, and many other people in this world, drag themselves into work each day with way worse going on with their bodies.

The male version is a “bad back”. Nothing shows up on x-rays, MRI, or any other modern diagnostic tool, but man it’s BAD.

Doesn’t stop them from fishing, boating, riding harleys, hanging out at bars or working for cash as needed but when push comes to shove or something difficult needs to happen- “Uh, I dunno man, my back…”

I have a male coworker who says he has fibro. He is the type of person to create psychosomatic illnesses for himself.
