Sat I did the Airforce marathon and saw a number of people running in Five Fingers, including at least one guy that walked/jogged the full 26.2. I cannot imagine putting my feet and legs through that sort of punishment in unpadded shoes with no socks. I ran in a nearly new pair of Brooks running shoes and my feet and ankles are still trashed two days later.
Though the furthest I’ve ever run is 14 miles, I’ve found that thinner, lighter shoes are the best and not cushy ones.
Though I’ve never tried 5 Fingers…I’m talking about Nike Frees and a pair of light Adidas I have now.
The ONLY thing with these Vibrams I’ve noticed (exactly 3 times) is that normally (with shoes) if I’d happen to accidentally hit something (weight stand, bench, etc) with my foot, I’d never really notice, but I think I’ve almost broken a toe 3 times when foot ‘kicked’ something that I was standing near or walking past.

Plus when you drop or put down a DB or KB in shoes you could clip the end and not hit a toe, V5F you are getting that toe.

LOL…y’all are just clumsy.
I look so playa in my vibrams. I have to kick the women off me with them.

Vibrams still worth it?
?
Socks are cloth. They slide. They have no grip. They get dirty easily. Would you walk into the men’s restroom in your socks?
VFF are like wearing socks with a really form grip on the sole and just enough protection to keep shit off your foot. I have honestly worn these in the gym since I got them. I would wear them more often if I didn’t think I would get them dirty. Right now, these are just gym shoes for me…but yeah, separating your toes does help with stability.
In situations where I might have made a miss-step or “half tripped” I have seen myself stabilize on my toes where I couldn’t before…so I don’t trip.
I have three pairs right now. The KSO’s feel the best.
Lucky you; can’t be a Goodlife Fitness then… although some of the staff are cool & look the other way when I chalk up.
Socks are good but VFFs are for when you forget your socks.
Kidding. They’re still worth it (myself being a multiple VFF pair owner) the grip and tread is better than socks, unless you like sliding through your workouts.
It is Goodlife Fitness. Don’t be hating on Goodlife Fitness, guy who recently broke a PL record trains at one of their locations in Guelph: The GoodLife Fitness Blog | GoodLife Fitness
Also Frank McGrath trains at a couple GoodLife Fitness locations in Brampton.
On Thursday, September 15, 2011 53-year-old Walter Urban set a new Guinness World Record for the most amount of weight squat lifted in one hour – drug free - on LIVE! with Regis and Kelly. The former record was 125,065 lbs, set in 2009 by a 32-year-old man

That’s why I had to wash them.

When you are juggling 44 pound kettle bells sometimes if not enough chalk its easy to drop one.
Love these fucking things. U won’t catch me at the Cheesecake Factory with em on though!!
I have five pair, and I spray each with 70% isopropyl after EVERY use; this keeps bacteria from setting up shop. Wash em every couple of weeks or so, and you’re good.
I haven’t washed mine since September and they still smell brand new. Superior feet genetics ftw.
Of course, genetics is a fickle mistress – all those sweat glands meant for my feet were instead diverted to my taint… not sure how I feel about that, honestly, but we all have our crosses to bear.
