If the 285 squat was too low then why didn’t you do more reps? You’re supposed to do at least 1 rep but as many as you can do. [/quote]
hey Big Joe!
good question, i think i was skeered.
ya see, last winter, i was having some issues wiht my knees (patella tendon), and now I get kinda skeered when I squat, cause I know that if I have any issues wiht the tendon, it will affect my running and my DL goals.
squats are kinda secondary to them, I do squats cause they are a great full body movement, and great mass builders, but I need to be aware of the issues that I could create by messing with my knees.
I know, what a puss - I do think, however, that the 5/3/1 is working well for me in that department since it is a low volume, high stress program, so instead of increasing reps, I think that for my issues, it would be best to keep the volumn low, and the intensity high with more weight.
Do you squat in knee sleeves? I have had 3 knee surgeries and I had patello-fmermoal pain syndyndrome in both knees. I fouund wearing sleeves, even for my warms up made a huge difference.

can you send me a link to the type that you use, and where to by them? I’ve bought a few sets from places like Big 5, and have not been happy with anything that I had.
I haven’t tried the rehbands but I really like the Tommy Kono’s which you can buy from EliteFTS and a bunch of other online spots that sell powerlifting gear.
You should be able to pick them up for under $40. If you are close to the cutoff in weight range I would go with the smaller size, it may take you awhile to pull them up but they will give your knees more support.
