Fayetteville Gyms

I’m about to move up to good ole Fayetteville come spring semester. I would really like to get moved into a powerlifting gym ASAP as possible. Anybody have any connections up there that I could try out?

Was there about 3 weeks ago and all I could find was a World Gym. Facility was ok. One or two power racks. No chalk allowed (which is really “funny” given their logo is a gorilla standing on top of the world deadlifting). Some d__bag was doing pullups in a power rack and got upset when I started squatting. Didn’t realize the bar sitting on the lowest setting was to assist him on his last few reps.

Which Fayetteville?

One good gym in Rogers, 25min away (Fitness Zone). But there is no chalk there, because knuckleheads ruined it. There aren’t any good one’s down south. The Hyper is pretty good, but it guys busy with too many kinds and you have to bully people around to use equipment. World’s Gym is just ok, but there are some full-time d-bags over there. Pulse, Fuel, and Fuse are powerlifter unfriendly. Mission fitness is apparently owned by a semi-meathead that is apretty cool guy from what I hear, that’s not too far from campus (5miles or so).

I workout at Summerhill tennis club. It doesn’t have much, but very few people workout there, so I get the whole place to myself. If I am squatting and one of my buddies is benching, there aren’t many 45’s leftin the place.

Personally, if a 25min drive is not an issue, Fitness Zone is where you should check out. No contract, 35 bucks a month, tons of equipment (but I don’t think they have a GHR), more 100lb plates than most places have 45’s, 24hr access, and there is a powerlifting crew that works out up there.

You may want to hit up Dixie’s Finest, I think he is at the U of A. Maybe, he can help you out as well.

Your wish is my suggestion.

I train at the HPER on UofA’s campus. Its not exactly powerlifting friendly, but its not bad either. No chalk allowed though. I train either at 8 30am or 11 30am, and dont have to wait on the squat rack etc. Going late afternoon is just asking for trouble. I have trained at World’s Gym before and depending on what time you go, it may work out well for you or be crappy. I went in the morning one time and it was only serious lifters, went in the afternoon and it was miserable.

Outside of those two gyms, I have not gone anywhere else. A good friend who is an amateur bodybuilder trains at Fayetteville Athletic Club sometimes and he likes it.

You sir are stinking awesome. This was pure gold. I think Im going to go check out Fitness zone come January.

I’m going to be spending alot of time in the HPER center, what with being a recreation major and whatnot. What does it look like during other parts of the day?

Woo pig sooie!

(At the beginning of the semester especially) From about 2om till round 9 30pm it is extremely busy and crowded. It opens at 6am, so from then till 2pm its great. Message me when you get up here, or pm me and ill find you on fb. I’m in need of a solid training partner.

Also, there is a SPF meet in rogers in Feb. if you want to enter.

Dixie- Speaking of the meet, you better sign up before the 2nd of January. I guess the Top Hogs intend on bringing a lot of their crew up to work the meet and they want 20 people guaranteed before then. And if they don’t have the meet, then I can’t work it. Then I will be sad. LOL.

Toughnuts- Talk to Andy and tell him this crazy, tall black dude, EJ, told you that he HAD to check this place out. My goal is to get enough people to go there, so he let’s me workout for free the few times that I make it in there. Yeah, I think it can work

I’d definitely be down for training once I get there. I cant do the meet though, last week I got the crap knocked outta me in a car accident and dislocated my shoulder. I am now the proud owner of a couple torn ligaments and a bunch of crap with the soft tissue. Still got a ways to go before I’m rehabbed enough to compete :frowning:

You can always come and spectate. We aren’t prejudiced, we let people from Texas come and go as they please in these parts

Damn bud, Im sorry bout that. Glad you are ok though.

Nice to know there are others like me in the area, and more moving in. My friend and I both compete in SPF. I agree with you, Fitness Zone is a nice place for plftrs. Lots of room, lots of weights, and the right tools.

Another SPF guy trains up there, good guy, has lots of toys to train with. Bands, chains, boards, etc… As for me I train at a small gym in S’dale called HBG. Very plftr friendly 24hrs, chalk is a must. Anyway welcome to the area…
