Favre's a Douche

Farve was a great quarterback and is still better than 80% of the quarterbacks in the league. That was a bullshit block. The type of block that ended many careers. As for: “It’s fucking preaseason and its not like the Texans are even a legit threat to them.” Well that just means the block was even more bullshit.

He was in position to make a clean block, but he chose the dirty route instead.
Favre thinks he is above all the rules, which is why he unretired and expected Green Bay just to hand him his job back. He isn’t even that great of a player. He throws too many interceptions. He’s only won one Super Bowl (i think) so its not like this guy is a great winner.
I would rather have Tavaris Jackson be the QB.

On the topic, y’all need to accept the fact that he’s still one of the best QBs in the league.- check some stats and see how he completely and wholly fell apart and ended up not even leading the jets to the playoffs

And I doubt that the hit was even intentional. It’s fucking preaseason and its not like the Texans are even a legit threat to them.- first the texans are going to be a threat this year if they stay healthy. second even if they arent a threat, it makes the block ok why? bc its brett favre and he does what he wants? i dont think so.

What a fucking dick. Could have ruined a career… in a stupid preseason game.

He hit him in the waist/thigh. Didn’t even hit him in the damn knee, plus his knee is fine. Quit your whining.

Favre’s the most overrated qb in the league today and of all time. Sure, he’s got a lot of records, but every time I think of Favre I think of him heaving up some boneheaded interception. He’s great, a Hall of Famer for sure, but he couldn’t hold Joe Montana’s jockstrap.

As for him still being one of the best QB’s in the league, that’s laughable. Here are all the QB’s who had better years than him last year and will probably have better years this year. Forgive me if I forget a few.

Manning, Roethlisberger, Rivers, Cassel, Warner, Orton, E. Manning, McNabb, Flacco, Rodgers, Delhomme, Ryan, Brees, Pennington, Collins, Romo, shit you could even throw Shaun Hill in there. Plus, Brady’s back. Favre isn’t even in the top half of the league’s QBs. He’s been a second-tier QB for about five or six years now, with the exception of 2007.

1:1 TD:INT last year. Favre fails spectacularly.

What I think is so funny is that all these haters spend so much time talking about the guy, writing about the guy, and I know full well that all of them have the two vikings/packers games circled on their calendar. The very fact that this thread exists prooves how important Favre still is to the game of football. If you hate him so damn much, don’t watch the guy. Last year, he was in the running for league MVP until he tore his biceps tendon, though he still played with that injury.

On a more philosophical note, not a single person here can call that block “dirty” as that implies judgement of motive. You have no idea why he did that. Players make bad decisions all the time, so a much simpler explanation is that he simply doesn’t block very well and threw his body into the guy. If Favre was a “dirty” player, he’d have gotten fines for crap like that at least one other time in his 17 years in the league. You don’t have to like the guy, but just because you don’t like him doesn’t mean you know what was going through his head when he threw that block. Maybe it was dirty, I have no idea, but you don’t either and you know it.

Only Vikings game I’ve got circled is week 3 against the 49ers. Other than that, I could care less about any of the Vikings games, especially in Green Bay.

Agreed.

yea yea yea Hindsight is always 20/20… and in any case its not his responsibility to watch out for others players knees. but then, it wouldn’t be what it is without you assholes picking every little thing apart.

He has thrown the most touchdowns ever (i think) but he’s also thrown the most interceptions ever. This guy is not an elite QB, the Vikings will not win the Super Bowl this year, so none of this matters. It is annoying that they spend time talking about favre on espn, and not get to more important things.

I want to touch on some points here. It is typically known among football players that you do not chop-block, leg-whip, or take out someone’s legs. Lineman do it alot when linebackers and corners blitz, as well as when they pull out to block for running back screens and draws. But the difference then is that your opponent can actually see you do it, where Favre did it on that guy’s blind side. It is a total cheap shot, and a stupid one for more than obvious reasons…

Favre just painted a target on himself, when he drops back to pass, rather than guys try to throw him to the ground they will hammer him or chop him. Defensive ends, tackles, and blitzing corners and linebackers are now going to intentionally go for his legs and knees to twist him up and get hurt. Among football players, what he did was code for automatic fighting and retaliation.

I will already call it right now, watch how many guys this season will intentionally try to go for Favre’s legs, knees, and ankles. They are going to teach him a lesson, that if you want to “go there,” they will certainly “go there.”

I hope my boy, Rey Maualuga from the Bengals drops the hammer on his ass.

I used to look forward to telling my kids that I saw the TCU Frogs beat Brett Farve, and one of my buddies got a pick off of him in that game, but now I wish he’d just go away.

The girl in VonStinkles avatar will be the mother of these children.

on top of a blind knee shot, preseason, not even a close game, not a red zone play…Farve could see that play was going no where, 3v2, he had a good field of view.

If the QB isnt willing to man up and throw a real block, dont fucking line up as a reciever, stand back 20 yards from the play and watch where you belong, or better yet dont run the stupid play and take a seat.

to make a cheap shot like than and then go line up behind a wall of linemen, cowardly is the only word.

This may be true…but I think they’ll have their hands full worrying about that beast #28 lined up behind him.

This whole season will be a repeat of last year, where he can’t do shit with his new team and doesn’t get along with anybody. Does he REALLY think he can get to a Super Bowl with the Vikings? Dude needs to go mow his farm or whatever it is he does at home.

I agree with HG…if the man can only win one freaking super bowl title with some players he worked with for sixteen years, how does he expect to jump into a team for one year and take them all the way? [/quote]

Name one player he “worked with for sixteen years”.

Geez, I get the hate, but at least make sense people.

It was a cheap shot and he should get fined. I don’t think it was intentional, but it still deserves a fine.

I don’t hate the guy, but I understand that a lot of people do. That’s fine. He’s done some things in recent years to bring it on. But all this talk of him not being an elite quarterback or not being on of the greats is just silly.

So he only won one Superbowl. That’s the same as Peyton and Eli, Steve Young (as a starter), Kurt Warner, Phil Simms, and Joe Namath. It’s one more than Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, Fran Tarkenton, and Warren Moon.

Yeah, he’s thrown some interceptions, but who hasn’t? Favre has a better TD-INT ratio than Elway, Aikman, Unitas, Tarkenton, Starr, Graham, Eli Manning, and Bradshaw.

His consecutive game streak is absolutely amazing and his longevity is almost unmatched. He had some elite years as in the 90’s as a young stud, came back in the early 00’s to some of the best years ever as a 30+ year old passer, and ended his career as a Packer with what could have been an MVP season (if not for Brady’s monster year).

If you want to bring up some of his playoff losses, that’s fair. Not all were his fault and some were directly his fault. If he’s a choker, so is Peyton Manning and a few of these other “greats”.

He may have went from the poster child of the NFL to a diva, but he’s still one of the all-time greats.

Now, with all this said, his skills have obviously declined some. And he’s not top – or even top five – in the league anymore. It’s hard to say where he ranks right now. I think he’s somewhere in the 10-15 range, which could be just enough for the Vikings. I guess we’ll find out.

I’m done now. You can all go back to your hating.

What’s his name didn’t even get injured.
