Favorite Video Games

Well, even though my 360 just contracted the dreaded red ring of death (sigh…) I can still remember my favorite games in astonishing clarity…
Here they are in no specific order.

  1. Gears of War 1 and 2 outstanding creativity here.
  2. Halo series gets me amped like no other.
  3. Doom 3 Literally made me jump out of my shorts.
  4. Oblivion perhaps the greatest game of all time.
  5. Guitar hero killer

IMAO oblivion tops them all, unless you can’t stand rpg’s. Fucking AMAZING!

Man, I forgot about the Soul Caliburs. That’s probably the longest running series I’ve been playing since it came out on Dreamcast. Though my brief experience with IV left a bad taste in my mouth. It feels like they took the speed out of it and favored a more Virtua Fighter experience.
Don’t know, I never really like button mashers all that much (which soul caliber/blade definitely were/are) as far as fighting games go. But hey, still a fun game.

Mario Kart 64
Conkers Bad Fur Day
Goldeneye
Blitz 2000
Punch Out

I play a lot of NES and N64

Question…how could they get Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas so right to the point that DAYS were lost on that game…and then get GTAIV so “less than”?

GTASA was funny. You could spend weeks just running from rival gang members. I felt none of that in the last one.

I liked San Andreas over the rest (without a second thought) because the environment and overall construction of the map was brilliantly done. It just felt like you were in that LA Haze. New York City is cool and all that (and I liked the new driving engine they used for GTAIV,) but nothing can touch San Andreas.

Although there were some ridiculously hard/absurd missions in GTASA.
Dude, taking out those vehicles with the RC helicopter took me weeks!
The game had a good flow to it though.

  1. Call of Duty Modern Warfare (360)-fun
    2.Grand theft auto three (PS2)-revolutionary
  2. Zelda-Orcarina of time (64)-classic
    4.Counterstrike 1.6 (PC)-oldie but a goodie
    5.Super Smash Bros (Wii)
I LOVE all the super smash games haha, want to play some matches online sometime? anyone else too?

Ok I was thinking earlier how I will probably stop playing video games soon because college will take up most of my time but now this thread is making me want to play again

for me:

  1. All super smash games
  2. Mario Kart
  3. Guitar Hero’s (all about the same)
  4. God of War
  5. The DBZ games (mainly just cause I liked the show so much)
  6. All super mario type games

Halo multiplayer are street fighter are also really fun,

Forza 2… no doubt about it. You can pick it up new anywhere for probably 19.99 or get it used for easily 5-10 bucks. You will spend a LOT of time in that game if you like achievements. They’re fun and attainable, but take dedication. It’s a true-sim.

Good to see Twisted Metal 2, and Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night, getting some recognition. I lost hundreds of hours to those two games.

  1. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (achieved like 204% or something like that).
Quoted for extreme truth. It’s a definite must-buy for anyone 360 owners that have Live. I think the most you can get is 209.7% or something like that, though. Speed runs with Richter are super fucking hard but fun…

Soul Calibur could be a button masher, but it could also be really technical. Guard impacts, 8-way run, horizontal/vertical attacks, all the combos you could execute. It was a versatile game for everyone. Pick up and play as well as a solid game to get into. Favorite move would have to be Cervantes rush which would rocket the opponent into the air, then turn around and catch him as he fell, shoot him several times, then toss him, preferably out of the ring.

Those games were WIN, I forgot to mention those.

yea seriously, I got every one until the very last one because they were starting to get repetitive and the last one was literally the exact same thing as “budokai 3” but with characters from tenkaichi.

I only had Budokai I, II, and Tenkaichi II. I’m looking at getting a good game, which one would you recommend out of all of the DB games?

any fighting type game CAN be a button mashing mess! But if you’ve played soul calibur for any length of time, you learn its far easier to decimate your opponents via controlled technique. If you hadnt noticed, many of the characters offer a variety of stances enabling them to counteract certain attacks and fighting styles.

To Ronsauce - killzone 1 wasnt necessarily the greatest game to surface, but it offered a fun co-op and definitely fun death match scenarios. Where as the new killzone only allows me to access multiplayer online which is okay, but IMO its far more fun to play with a friend 2vs Max hardmode bots. All my friends own 360s, i made the mistake of purchasing a ps3 expecting far more than it offers in reality…

And wtf? is there really no one on this website who plays guildwars? theres gotta be some cheap bastards like myself out there who refused to pay for WoW and picked up the next best thing!

of that series of games?

Tenkaichi 3 was good but not much different than 2. It was fun to play when I got it on christmas but I wouldn’t have spent my own money.

Theres one that came out (I think) but I can’t remember the name. Burst limit looks pretty cool but again, theres only going to be slight changes because it’s always the same storyline.

Edit: oh and its kind of old but “DBZ Sagas” is really fun playing co op

Yeah, that’s true. But I just remember beating the game in the arcade like the second time I played it with Kilik (sp?) by just figuring out a couple of his moves/combos and using timing/range to whoop on the computer. I also had a guy come in and challenge me who had obviously played before who I also whooped on.

Later when my cousin got the game for PS2 and we would play together I’d be able to keep up and sometimes dominate him, even though he’d been playing the game much more than me. Sure, he knew the more intricate details of the game. But I could still keep up with him by button mashing and using timing, distance and varying my attacks.

Now, I’ve played my share of fighting games in the past and obviously that helped me. But, the game still seems like primarily a button masher to me. Something like virtua fighter 4 for example is anything but a buttom masher. That game is crazy complex and you will get destroyed if you try to button mash.

Again, I think it’s a fun game, I just always liked games like the street fighter series more. Simply my opinion.

I agree on liking games with a little more technique because you feel more accomplished when you get certain things down but button mashing games can be fun too

whats your opinion on super smash games? lol definitely more childish with the characters but it’s definitely my favorite fighting game (probably my favorite game overall too). I’m pretty sure it’s got more players than any other fighting game too

counter-strike 1.6 remains the best
all GTA
hack n slash such as diablo

super smash bros for N64 was great. I bought the wii solely for super smash bros brawl. Turns out, playing online is a total fuckin hassle, and i just couldnt maintain my interest for more than a few days. So now my wii collects dust. Had i played this game 4-5yrs ago i might have really enjoyed it but i think its the type of game that you grow out of. BUT if you are a fan, make sure you play 'Super Get Smashed" with friends before you hit the clubs haha. A shot everytime you lose a life! GOODLUCK lol
