I would love to hear about everyone’s favorite vacations/places to vacation. I love to celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Louisiana.
I love New Orleans, love the food, and the people of Louisiana. I love getting beads. Those who’ve been there know what you have to do to earn beads… I always come back with a huge bag full of them. LOL NycMan
New Orleans is AWESOME. No, I have never earned beads… last time I was there I was attached and he requested that I not earn anything. I love the walk up bars, the food, the little out of the way locals places…
Also, Belgium - where I play rugby in the spring, France - I lived there for a year and like to visit, and Holland - a good friend of mine is Dutch. I used to have a big trip once a year to someplace, but I guess I'm skipping this year :(
Oh well, the next trip will be a biggie!!!
New Orleans is a great place to visit, but try living here. Some people absolutely love it. I just don’t happen to be in that number. Honestly, I’ll be outta here as soon as I can. Maybe I’ll visit after I leave to do the tourist thing, but I’ll never live here again. Sorry to sound so bitter about it, guys.
Doc, I would never live in Naw’lins, because that would probably ruin it for me too.The magic would be gone. I’d rather go there once or twice a year to enjoy the Beignets at Cafe du Monde. NycMan
Michelle, I’m sure if you had wanted to, you would’ve cornered the market on beads NycMan
How come you don’t like living in New Orleans? I was born and raised around this area and was just wondering.
I am hoping to do the Kentucky Derby, Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Indy 500, SuperBowl, That silly running of the bulls thing, basically any “ya gotta be in ___ during ___” I want to take part in as many regional highlights, sports showcases as possible.
Skiing and luge sleding in St. Moritz, sightseeing in Kruger National Park in South Africa, Snowy River region of Australia for horseback riding, Gallatin National Forest in Montana for NA wildlife, steaks in Argentina, barbecue in Brazil, pasta in Milano, swimming in the Gulf off the Yucatan Pn. But I love my farm most of all!
Jason, I think the key is that you were born and raised here. I’m just tired of the crime, the poor streets, political corruption, crime, and did I mention the crime yet? I live in Lakeview which is supposed to be one of the safer neighborhoods and recently there was a murder in the light of day not far from my house. It’s not very comforting to my wife nor to myself. I’m not saying that the city’s all bad. There’s tons of stuff to do if you’re bored, and you’ll find no more unique city in the country. It’s just not really my cup of tea.
I probably could have gotten one or two strings!!! laugh I went with Katie for my birthday a few years ago, our first night there I found us an entire rugby team to party with… yes, we had a good time! (and yes, I DID behave!!!)
Point taken. I just hope the new mayor, Ray Nagin keeps on trying to clean up the city.
I visited the Swiss Alps a few years ago, the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. The hot chocolate they serve in Switzerland is wonderful as well. Actually I really must get back there soon…
Canadian Rockies beats Swiss Alps anyday! Very different, mind you, but absolutely awesome. The whole stretch between Banff and Jasper and surrounding area will blow your socks off. Then there’s Mexico and the Costa del Sol in the southeastern part of Spain. Breathtaking!
For those who don’t have the time, budget, or whereithal to travel to exotic overseas destinations, try a trip to the coast of Maine. Bar Harbor, near Acadia National Park, is a beautiful and not too overcrowded, even in the high season of summer. It’s driveable for anyone on the east coast from, say D.C. on up northward.
I spent a few weeks in Dublin a year or so ago and instantly wanted to move there. I’m from the Pacific NW, so the weather didn’t bother me (in fact, we got there during a heat wave… for them, at least). Great people, absolutely beautiful landscape (in all of Ireland) and probably the best seafood I’ve ever had. I would love to move there someday at least for a year or two.
Oh, I don’t know, I spent a week in the French Alps, it was absolutely stunning. I’m sure the Canadian Rockies are lovely, I have never seen them except in books. My aunt lived in Calgary for a while, and she’s been to the Alps, I’ll see what she thinks!
When I was single and before any of my close buddy’s were married, we used to do an annual trip to Cancun, Mexico. I know it’s a totally americanized place with few cultural attractions to speeak of, but damn, it’s a fun place to party. Basically I would be a good boy all year, watching my diet, training hard and going easy on the acohol. I would save up all my deviant impulses for that one week in Cancun.
Alaska.
Jamaica- Specifically Hedonism 2 or 3! All inclusive for sports, food and drinks. Great gyms at both. go during fitness week and you will meet hundreds of men and women who all work out and as an added bonus they are all naked! T man paradise!
My favorite vacation is always the next one.
