Favorite Power Foods

Bacon & eggs for breakfast.

A pound of bottom round beef steak for lunch.

2 big pork steaks for dinner w a side of rice, and lately, white or black beans with yellow squash sautéed in some of that there bacon geese. Perhaps a little steamed pineapple.

That’s the regular diet.

I love black cod and from time to time some wild salmon, venison, lamb or ground beef. Lamb/venison pair well w macadamia nuts/hazelnuts respectively.

My kid eats the same (except he hates beans & most veggies and I don’t mind at all) plus half my yearly income in blueberries and usually a banana each day. He loves chicken drumsticks so we will eat the crap out of those. I don’t get to eat the skin because he takes it…… :expressionless: He loves bell peppers, squash, rice & carrots.

We only eat power foods!

Top 3 for me:
If I feel the need for super power healing & recovery I will sit and eat about 20 ounces of black cod.

Lamb has always been a super power food for me as well and is great before wrestling practice. I should eat more of it.

Eggs. Have eaten 6-20 eggs a day for probably close to 20 years.

That’s all to say, red meat, fatty fish, eggs, all you REALLY need. Everything else represents about 10%.

Though you were not asking for a solution here, I want to springboard from this to say a meatforward solution is to use pork rind powder as a binder. I’ve seen parmesan also work in a similar manner.

I can vouch for this. My grandmother did this my whole childhood. Had a cousin with Celiac so she swapped out breadcrumbs for parmesan. Honestly might even taste better.

How could it not?! Haha. I feel like cheese is an everything enhancer. And despite my carnivory, I’ll say the same of peanut butter. And yes, that DOES mean that peanut butter will enhance cheese.

Not gonna lie some dark meat chicken with peanut butter and rice is badass. This past winter I was eating hamburger patty’s w peanut butter too.

Nothing wrong with that. Peanut sauce is a popular condiment for meat, and no one bats an eye at that idea. Peanut flavor enhances meat very well, great compliment. I learned about peanut butter and eggs from Harry Selkow, and it works as well.

Yep Pb & eggs is a good one too.

Your diet sounds pretty good to me.

Didn’t you say you were a pig farmer? If I’m remembering that right, do you eat your own?

I appreciate how this can be read to mean “do you eat your own pigs?” and “do you eat other pig farmers?”

That reminds me of another power food I really want to take a second crack at making at home, a chicken Panang curry. Attempts 1 and 2 did not inspire me to stop paying $12 for takeout when I want this. I have always ordered extra chicken in mine with a bit of extra peanut butter to thicken the sauce, plus spicy level five, please.

I don’t understand how the Norwegians developed this technology before a Midwestern American did. This is an Indiana State Fair caliber carbohydration innovation.

I’ve eaten multiple blocs of this stuff.

Life changing

We eat good. I don’t see a reason to eat otherwise. If I end up binging out on something, which does happen from time to time, the worst thing it’ll be is like half a watermelon or a huge bowl of strawberries; and I pay for it… BUT I know what happens when I visit a Chinese buffet or buy a pizza and it’s a much worse outcome. Furthermore, and I don’t mean to get on a soap box here, but I refuse to feed my child anything that isn’t meat, eggs, rice or certain fruits.

I did grow up raising pigs, amongst other livestock, and have done so most of my life, although I am not presently involved. We did eat our own pork, lamb & beef. I do have access to several local farmers for everything; pork, beef, eggs, milk, honey, and I eat as much bluegill as I have the time to catch, but quite frankly, I mostly just shop at Sam’s Club, lol.
