I wasn’t into that sorta thing back then. I’m sure had I incorporated both farmers walks and other building and assistance stuff and ate more I would have seen better results.
I was never a fan of traditional shrugs but the Kaz dude said he got his mountains from wide grip shrugs doing like 50reps with something around his top deadlift. Something like that……
I personally like deficit farmers deadlift with a shrug at the top of the lift for reps, getting that stretch in the traps on the eccentric and then again concentric, good stretch via deficit.
I been playing around with snatch grip deadlift too.
Amen! One of the things I don’t like about processed food is it all dissolves in your mouth so I end up over eating even more than my insane appetite already allows just to hit enough chews to feel satisfied.
My biggest issue is I eat things in waves which can lead to problems. Before cabbage I was throwing back 5+ pounds of carrots a week and only cut back because my friends were giving me a hard time about my palms turning orange. I like to refer to it as a “healthy glow”
This could legit be the body trying to correct a nutrient deficiency. I had this happen for a bit. Went through a BIG bone broth phase. Going through several jars a week.
@marine77 do you remember the old style farmers cylinders that were used in WSM 1990s and very early 2000s?
Now, those are the implements to use for trap mass IMO, they are farther down to the ground for the pickup and the length of those things cause swaying which will totally fry the traps! Plus the shifting sand inside them.
Someone brought up quantity of food vs strength vs looks… If I cant see every ab/very defined core then im over indulging. My bulk and cut days were over in my 20’s.
Picking a static point within the dozens of variables helps keep things (overall) in perspective
Eating 5,000+ cal a day(regardless of mostly steak, eggs, tofu etc) you are going to see increases in strength and gaining mass, but are you gaining % LBM(lean body mass)?? Abs will tell…
Seeing if you can get stronger and gain LBM on 2,000 cal a day is a challenge… (also GH kicks in when you are fasting??)
Be careful with too much cabbage too. I know someone who was super into snacking on cabbage and gave himself a goiter. Too much of ANYTHING is not a good thing. Variety is your friend!
You can see strength gains on 2,000 calories for sometime when you are coming off a more high calorie load.
I believe in taking a break from the eating of the same foods all the time.
For the last few weeks I’ve eaten a lot of eggs, I’ve seen some gains and the logic is “keep going” but no I’m not following that logic.
I’m taking a break and I’m not eating any eggs today I may only eat a couple eggs this week actually.
I haven’t even ate any PB today. All I’ve eaten today is a couple of plain toasted Dave’s everything bagels with a small leftover pieace of chicken breast I found in the fridge, I chopped it up and put on the bagel and a banana or two.
I’m very confident my power will be just fine, in fact I’m sure I’ll see some PRs too.
