You walk into the interrogation room in Resident Evil 2. All the sudden you notice a something shiny all the way in the room on some shelves. You walk all the way in to grab the object, and “Hey look at that my reflection in the mirror. Cool.” Thats when the zombie dogs smash through the glass.
At the age of 25 that single scene made me have a heart palpatation!
That was the first time a video game gave me such a strong emotion. Like I’m going to shard myself.
Yes- Syphon Filter was excellent. The headshot kills, the hand held poisonous gas grenade launcher. The mini-machine guns. Loved it.
I also gotta mention Legacy of Kain. Typical hack and slash game- but with a slight twist. The character you played was a Vampire- a true Anti-Hero. Gameplay was good- not great- but the voice acting was innovative (at the time). And there was nothing better than drinking the blood of your opponent from across the room.
I’ve played every single Legacy of Kain/Soulreaver game. I absolutely love that series.

Oh I forgot another game for the PS1, Puzzle Fighter II, best puzzle game EVER!!
Those are pretty rash words. Let’s not forget gems like Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, Chu Chu Rocket, and Dr. Mario! It’s nice to see a lot of these old games I forgot about, like Road Rash, popping up here.
The snowboarding games were pretty good. I thought a game that was a lot of fun (at first) was the Unholy War. Metal Gear Solid, Tekken 3, Gran Turismo, Moto Racer. Definitely at least a handful of other games that I absolutely loved playing. The only games I enjoy that much today are the huge hits (Halo 3, COD 4, etc). Unless there was a retarded amount of money put into the game, then chances are, it has very little replay value.
