Troy! Great choice.
The last Olympia he competed in, he looked FANTASTIC! Not a weak point to be found (unless you consider less mass than everyone else a weakness).
Probably the most beautifully balanced male physique out there.

There are just so many people out there who look at least as good as that pic of Mo Green. I have to wonder if people who make comments like this are just under the impression that basically anyone who takes their shirt off at the beach is taking steroids.
You can’t really blame them. That is what they are hearing on message boards and tv. It means there are a bunch of guys looking at anyone that size and bigger and just assuming steroid use…which means things are like they always have been. The clueless ones just have more of a voice via the internet.
That is also one reason to not focus on “arbitrary limits” before any actual real progress is made.
Throwing out limits is a slippery slope.

He also doesn’t seem that big in his videos. His physique is a mastery of illusion.

Exactly.
And besides Phil Heath, I think Troy was the most complete BBer on the Olympia 2011 stage - size be damned.

Poor ould Dave Draper lost out in this one lol but cool picture all the same. The golden era look is just the best imo
That pic of Serge Nubret is the one I would choose as the epitome of bb perfection!
That’s Rick Wayne.
Or are you referring to the pic of Nubret that was posted earlier?
The pic that was posted earlier. I was going to post that one myself, it is the first pic that comes to mind when I think of pure class. Arnie in the arm blaster is another one that comes to mind…

A comparison.
Young Arnie with Serge!

I’ve never seen the guy before. That’s pretty awesome. Love how he made his torso into a nice solid unit, and has his legs perfectly match his lats. He preserved a very nice look as a whole, but still has plenty of detail.

Thanks for posting this. It highlights very clearly how much proportional delt development affects the overall “illusion”. Obviously Serge’s pecs are far more developed, but I personally think the delts add more to the illusion of size from an overall standpoint.

If you watched the Olympia last year, you could see how fantastic Troy Alves was! Seeing him move through the poses really shows this man’s perfection. It’s a shame he’s not raved over more. Mass is still king (not that I abhor it… I was rooting for Heath, passionately!).

Could you explain this one?
If you are referring to how his abs look, that is genetic.

Heres another random pic ID that you might find interesting…

1.Arnold
2.Sergio
3.Flex wheeler
4.Dexter Jackson
5.Brandon Curry
The oldies will always beat the mass monsters
^ That picture is off. Ronnie was way bigger than Arnold ever got. They adjusted the pic to make them closer to the same size in relation.
Yeah agreed, Im just saying the look of Arnold compard to Ronnie, is just better imo
