Favorite Jerky Brand

I love beef jerky and could eat it all day. My current favorite is Pemmican but because of the extra carbs (about a 1:2 Carb/Protein ratio) in it I was wanting to try another without so many carbs. I found some from JerkyUSA which promotes that their regular jerky has 0g fat and carb. Well, I can tell you that their jerky is very tough and can take quite some time to chew (the peppered flavor is decent though but nothing fantastic).

So what brands of Jerky do you guys recommend? Online sources would be great, especially if they can sell in bulk to keep the price down.

I like SnackMasters’ Turkey Jerky (Teriyaki flavor). I get it at Trader Joe’s (great place to buy quality food at a reasonable price). It has the following profile per oz.:
Calories: 80
Cals from fat: 5
Total Fat: 0.5g
Cholesterol: 30mg
Sodium: 580mg
Total Carbs: 4g
Sugars: 4g
Protein: 14g

I’m trying the T-Dawg Diet and have 2 oz. of this jerky with 1/3 cup of mixed raw nuts (also bought at TJ’s) as my morning “snack.”

wombat, if I buy jerkey, I buy it from a health food store. I try to avoid meat that has nitrites/nitrates added, which is why I avoid most luncheon meat also.

however, nitrites and nitrates aside, check out the following links. I’m sure you’ll find something to your liking and at a price you can afford. (grin)

Not to mention MSG!
