I have played WoW-Classic and Burning Crusade.
I am currently back to playing Magic and loving it more than ever.

Most of my “book collection” consists of graphic novels ranging from Marvel Zombies to Final Crisis.
I have played LoL, Diablo II, Path of Exile, and dabbled in HoN.
I played Heroclix for a number of years and competed in tournaments.
I was obsessed with the Final Fantasy games growing up.
I have a love for things sci-fi/fantasy. I love both Star Wars and even loved the new Star Trek films.
I possess a vast amount of knowledge concerning fictional characters in both the DC and Marvel universes. Also, some from Dark Horse.
I’m sure I’ll think of more later.

I honestly dont think its anything worth flaunting, not that theres anything inherently wrong with it, though some people are such repulsive, sub-human nerds that they deserve to be scorned for all their general human deficiencies.

Im a nerd, i like videogames, and not the “non-nerdy” ones like CoD, but the Final Fantasies, Mass Effect, even the occasional MMO (LOTRO is still the best IMO) but i dont find it cool or liberating to embrace it so obviously, like its a badge of honor or something.

We get it, you lack any really interesting or unique character traits so you have to wear a shirt with a big superman “S” to the gym every day.

Everything in moderation.
Spot on.

I agree with the message for sure

Anyone on here ever look at bulletin boards with a 2500 baud dial up modem? This guy did. Also had to pay long distance charges if the area code was not local.

Was a rough life you lead.

I think my phone downloads quicker than that first dial up modem I had.

Now I wish life was more laid back. Pick what you want to download and then go to sleep because it will take all night to download. You could actually sleep back then, or get a workout in. Now you have MMO that are real time 24/7. No time to sleep or work out. Glad I gave up WoW.

Sorry guys but I am the biggest nerd here. There is no competition.
Breaking my silence to disagree with the Nard.

-Played EQ during the glory days (A tank for one of the greatest guilds in the Game, IB)
-Original WoW Beta Tester, and Player Expansions through WoTL. Then moved on to the next MMO. unfortunately, was disappointed in the next dozen things that were released. Currently waiting on the Skyrim MMO.
-Played D&D (would again if the team had an 8 hr gap to dedicate to it)
-Goes to Comic con/Anime expo (Has gone to Anime expo 5yrs straight in LA. Dresses up also: Was Dan from Street Fighter last year, Was Navi from Zelda this year, and debating next year’s costume- Current options are Torgue, A member of the Ginyu Force, or Super Knuckles). Dressing up makes those events 100x Funner. On top of that, going out to dinner or to a bar afterwards in costume is a riot and ends up with meeting awesome people and having food/drinks sent your way.
-Reads Anime
-Currently Plays Magic
-Currently Plays BL2
-Can spank anyone in Smash Bros(choose your version) with most anyone, but Mario is my man.
-Has LAN parties (Currently one planned for the 26th at a friend’s house to host a BL2 LAN of the new DLC, which is a D&D type expansion)
-And the list goes on.

I love being a nerd.

Sorry. Back to the original topic.
What server and guild did you tank for in EQ? I still play some and started at release on good ole dial up.
Hmm shit, i dont even know if i remember the server lol…I wanna say luclin, but im not 100% positive. I know the guild name was Insidious blood and my tank was named Duuvas. Right before WoW came out i sold the char to a fellow guild member

Exactly how I feel. Being a “nerd” is just a part of who I am. It’s simply a word used to describe a set of interests that I have. It really is just so fucking annoying when you have that one person who just tries way too fucking hard to try and convince everyone that he is so nerdy in an attempt to gain attention. Then, as it almost always turns out, he or she knows next to nothing about half of the shit they try and talk about. Oh, so you know that Superman is from Krypton? Oh, you wear a cut-off with comic paraphernalia on it to the gym every single day? Well, holy-fucking-shit, let me give you a pat on the back. Actually, now that I think about it, I believe there might be one or two people like that on these very boards.

I like when geeky friends I have on facebook link to something about a new superhero movie or something about science and add that “This makes my inner nerd happy.” or something…I always want to write back that they have a hell of a lot of outer nerd too.

Huh. A T-Nation nerd dick-measuring contest. Okay, I’ll play.

I was a nerd before being a nerd was cool. Way, way before.

My first exposure to a computer was on a Terminal connected to a Mainframe.
I once programmed a car race game in BASIC on a TRS-80 computer.
I had an Atari and kicked ass on Pong and Breakout.
The operating system on the first computers I used had to be booted up from a casette tape.
I loved anime when ordinary people didn’t understand what the word “anime” meant. They called it “Japanimation”.
The only anime available was on pirated VHS tapes with no subtitles.
I saw Star Trek The Motion Picture in a drive-in movie theater.
I taught myself Klingon from a first-edition Marc Okrand Klingon dictionary.
I had a leather Klingon suit custom made in Thailand.
I was networking IBM computers running DOS before Windows was invented.
My first Macintosh had no internal hard drive: I booted System 6 from a floppy, until I got the “high-capacity” 40MB external hard drive.

Top that.

I played EQ early on. Magic too.

But generally my crowning achievement of nerdom is being on the math team through middle and highschool.

One of my favorite workout shirts is from a competition that reads “get fired up about math” across the back.

LOL at the last few lines. Though we were already in agreement, well put.

Man i know what you mean. Sometimes i find myself even playing a videogame like Skyrim or something and saying to myself;

“why do i even enjoy this? There is so much to fucking do in this game alone that i need a schedule for it, never mind the tasks i need to accomplish in real life.”

Technology makes it convenient to be busy, and that makes it inconvenient IMO.

Obviously the old guys win the nerd distinction since they wrote the preamble. Some people still call anime Japanimation though lol.

Lol funny to see so many weight lifters that played Everquest. I was a rogue from the day it came out to the ruins of lucin (i think it was called) Got to 3rd ranked best on all servers. Aka, played too much. I was in blades of wrath for the torvonnilous server

oh and nerd question, anyone play/paint/read WH40k?
