Squat
325x3
350x3
375x2
Experimented with a narrower stance to fix the weird depth issue from last week, and it cleared up.
Snatch-grip DL
370x3x3
This will likely be my second DL from now on. Really hit my posterior chain, but I was able to keep a flatter back in the oly shoes.
GHR
+10x8,8,8,10
Combined squat with my second DL workout…playing in a softball tournament tomorrow because I suck at real sports but want to compete in pseudo-baseball, and it’s unlikely I’ll get a workout in. Might try to get rows and such in if I have time, though. Inching toward 405 again on squat.

Dude ever since Klokov started going buck wild with his YouTube videos I’ve been doing a lot more snatch grip pulling in my Olympic shoes. You can really feel it.

You mean feeling it in your olympic shoes for just snatch grip work in general?

My best DL at 555 was done in oly shoes. I don’t know that I’m necessarily stronger in them or gain an advantage in weight by wearing them, but my back definitely stays flatter, so I think long-term it could be good for injury prevention.
It all goes back to ankle mobility and how that affects the lower back, IMO.

definitely
Bench
300(75%)x5
320(80%)x5
340(85%)x6
Might have gotten a 7th, but wanted to have an “easy” day before trying 350x6 next time.
Reverse-grip
310x8,8,7
Didn’t fail, but was gassing out pretty bad on that last set. Will go for 6,6,8 or something like that next time.
Pullover/Tri Ext
55x9x4
TRX stuff
Kept my wrists in better position I think, and wrapped better. Good day…hopefully I’ll be fully recovered by this bullshit sickness I have by next time. In other news, my calves and feet are so damn sore after 5 games of softball…such a baby
@Csulli-Technically I wear a knee sleeve, but it’s the smallest size that brand had :(. Someday I’ll stop being lazy and buy another one. But I don’t understand why powerlifting feds are so against allowing their use in competition.
7/19
Squat
325x3
350x2
375x1
Form was off for a lot my reps, and I was still feeling that weird hangover from being sick. Nailed form at 375, though, and quit on a positive note. Opening up my feet a few more degrees really seemed to help keep me knee from affecting me negatively.
Leg Press
8PPS+25x10,10,12
Really feel like this lift is driving my squat up the most. I think it increases my pain tolerance in the left knee and strengthens enough that it isn’t giving out on heavier sets of squat. First set was pretty painful, but the next two were great and the deepest I’ve gone.
GHR
+20x8x4
Hard.
I’m thinking about doing reps at low weights on my DL1 day to bring the knee and squat along some more. I think next week will be a good one finally.
7/20
Sumo DL
420x3,3,4
Much better than I used to be form-wise, but still needs improvement. Knee felt really good, though.
BB Row
385x6x4
Hardest series of rows I’ve ever done…still beltless.
Lat Pressdown
195x10x4
Also very hard.
Concentration Curl
40x12
Really happy with how this workout went considering I had a few beers and was out in the sun for 3 hours prior to it. I think I’m comfortable going as heavy as possible on sumos from here on…just doesn’t tax my back at all relative to conventional. It’s also a good way to work my legs a little.
Bench
310(77.5%)x5
330(82.5%)x5
350(87.5%)x5
Felt OK, but just had no desire to try and grind a 6th.
Reverse-grip
315x6,6,7
Had to have been a PR, but I almost died on the 3rd set. Bar slipped back on my hand and the weight almost tumbled toward my face, but I managed to recover and do 5 more reps (LOL). Good thing I had the catches set up and this was my last week.
Pullover Tri Ext
55x10x4
Side to Side Pushup x12
Felt completely and utterly blase. On the plus side, my bench descent is much more controlled now.
7/23
DL
420(77.5%)x3
445(82.5%)x3
470(87.5%)x3
Night and day from last week…feel good jumping to 90% next time, and should hit a rep PR soon.
Sumo
420x3
440x1
Nothing left after that.
Pendlay Row
240x6x4
So hard.
Sumo Squat for funsies…think I’ll do this in place of sumo DL next time and keep heavy sumo DL on its own day.
Finally had a good workout after several days feeling like poopy. Upped my carbs by 50g on training days after the previous day’s lackluster bench, and I think that should do the trick.
Squat
325, 350, 375x3
Easy, and the best/strongest I’ve felt since surgery.
Sumo DL
425x1, 445x2
That’s it. Rfstef2 and I were out of town and had to combine workouts, so it was pretty short.
7/29
Bench
315x5
335x5
355x5
Not putting percentages here anymore since I’m jumping 5 pounds now and they’d be weird. Shoulder felt better here than it did last Thursday, but it still has issues. Hopefully going to once a week benching will help facilitate healing.
NGBP
315x5,5,7
Hex Press
50x12x4
Prone Ys-5x3x10
That’s the most I’ve done for 5 in a while, so that’s a plus. My adjusted split will replace my bench2 workout with an arms day until my shoulder feels significantly better.
DL
430(80%)x3
460(85%)x3
485(90%)x3
Slightly harder than last time, but nothing like you’d expect from a 15 pound increase. Legs felt really good, and I really am feeling confident in my ability to push through my left knee right now.
Sumo Squat
275x3x3
Not painless by any means, but my knee handled these pretty well.
Pendlay Row
245x5x4
Somehow these seem harder every time.
Will probably try 495x3 next time to tie a PR, then move up by 5-10 pounds each week depending on feel. Really happy with how my DL is going right now.
Fully intended to do biceps as well, and then I just didn’t.
8/2
Squat
325x3
355x3
385x2
Felt really good, and a PR since surgery. Going to start doing 5 on the lowest weight I think. Have a video, but it wasn’t very good…will film again next time.
Leg Press
9PPSx10,10,12
As usual, felt pretty rough on set 1, then great after. Might need to do some warmup sets.
GHR
+25x8x3
8/3
Sumo DL
405x1, 430x2, 460x2, 420x4
Moving along.
BB Row
395x5,5,6
Beltless PR.
Lat Pressdown
195x10, 200x10x3
Racing against my own conventional DL here…should keep me motivated.
Got punched in the mouth by allergies and felt like hell. Added volume to compensate for the second bench day, and was already getting sore by the end of the night. Bench felt fine, but I just didn’t have enough will for a 5th rep…will make a run at it next week, I suspect. Shoulder felt a lot better, so as long as it stays like this I’m not going to worry too much about continuing with benching. This is the longest run I’ve had of consecutive months benching in the last 7-8 years, I’d say.
Floor DB Press
100x10x4
By the third set I had finally found a way to feel a lot of chest activation without feeling anything in my shoulder, so I’ll keep these.
Pullover Tri Ext
55x10x2
60x8x2
Tri Pressdown
210x10x4
Machine Curl
100x10x4
8/9
Squat
325x4
355x3
385x3
Felt great.
Sumo DL
405x1
430x1
450x1
470x2
Best those have felt since I started doing them again, but also the heaviest I have done in years.
Had to haul ass out of town after this, but I was pleased.
