Friday
Dynamic GM
195+mini band
6x3
Knee was getting too achy so I stopped after 6.
Smith Shrug
505x10+3+3
Got me sore.
Bent LR/Perfect Pushup
35/BWx10/10, 10/10, 10/12, 10/15
Shoulder tolerated the perfect pushup really well.
Monday
Good Morning
255, 275, 295, 305x3
Got a little shaky on 295 after stumbling, so I held off on 315. Nice solid set at 305, and I should be able to attempt 315 next week for a PR.
DB Shrug/DB Strict Curl
130/25x20/10, 20/10, 25/10
My knee is really hampering my ability to do much of anything for legs besides one exercise. Even leg curls felt daunting after this.
Tuesday
DB Bench
100x10,10,12
Couldn’t go heavy because of the shoulder, but these were not painful. I played around with light BB bench in between sets and found that it was much better than a few weeks ago. Hopefully this signals the beginning of the slow climb back. These were supersetted with Prone Ys.
Tri Bar Floor Ext
135x9+3+2
Good stuff.
Pullover
247.5x10+3+4
Pressdown
112.5x10+3+3
Much stronger this week, but this is pretty rough on my elbow.
Good progess with the shoulder. I may limit triceps isolation because of elbow tendinitis, so hopefully I’ll be capable of some sort of narrow-grip board pressing soon.
KNEE UPDATE
Went in to the sports medicine clinic and scheduled surgery for June 22nd. Conservatively, I may bay squatting in a little over two months. The docs tell me it’s a classic aneurysmal bone cyst, confirming the other diagnosis. They’ll biopsy it and send it in after surgery just to be safe, but with my symptoms they said the chances of it being malignant are something like 1 in 100,000. The surgery itself will involve cleaning out the cyst and filling it with a bone graft from my tibia, and I’m going to be on crutches for 2-3 weeks. I forgot to ask, but I hope to God I won’t get casted. It doesn’t seem likely from a logical perspective because the bone shouldn’t be at any risk of breaking, but immobolization causes atrophy the quickest. Even if I can only passively stretch my knee it will prevent a large degree of atrophy. But all in all, I’m ecstatic to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Oh, and get ready for some of the most LOL-worthy leg pics of all time when I start my new log and take leg shots after getting off crutches. If there’s any muscle at all I’ll consider it a victory.
