Father to Son

“Age old wisdom” really pisses me off. Understand what the most intelligent people in history understood: Plato, Hesse, Gautama–everyone must learn for themselves. Wisdom cannot be passed down from one person to another. Knowledge can. Schools, teachers, educators, mentors, they can be guides, and are in fact very important, but they can’t be anything more than that. They can merely pass down information, you must learn what to do with it.

Whoever wrote that is not “wise” insofar as he believes that anyone who follows these guidelines will become wise himself. As “guiding information” it’s not anything great either–it’s merely some guy writing down his thoughts thinking that they are wisdom, thinking that this is the way to live. Bullshit. Learn for yourself. Let books, PBS, teachers, schools be merely guides.

Pookie, of course there is quite a bit to disregard in this article, but I have a feeling you’d be lying if you said you didnt think ONE thing in this article wasnt good advice.[/quote]

Sure. “If you want people to respect you then treat people with respect.” is good advice. For anyone.

As a whole though, I feel there’s way more crappy advice in there than good. Sprinkling sugar on a turd doesn’t make me want to eat it.

Out of curiousity, it’d be interesting to get a few of the vixens here to give us their opinions on this article.

Why not just listen to Tom Leykis and follow his advice?

You mean like “dump that bitch?” Yep, there’s a solid base to build on.
