Fat Loss Plateau

Do you realize how incredibly arbitrary your decision was?

What factors do you think actually determine if someones calories are, in fact, too low? The guy isn’t posting with symptoms from micronutrient deficiencies. He’s also actually still losing fat (gee, imagine that.) He has DOMS, but that’s not indicative of shit. I get DOMS every workout. I still recover.

And at 5’9 150lbs, I can’t imagine you have much real world experience regarding any of this. Basically none, I imagine.

Really? He did state for 2 weeks he hasn’t dropped 1 lb…

And are you his defense lawyer? I simply agreed with a statement from another user and then place my own “opinion” or “thoughts”… So when did I EVER claim to be some expert of have superior knowledge in this?

As for 5’9 and 150 lbs… What does that have to do with any form of experience what so ever? Did you know my previous stats before this? Did you know that once my stomach was way larger in the “skinny fat” look and I was pushing 163 lbs? So apparently I’m not that dumb neither and have some idea.

I mean hello, this is the age of the Internet where millions of information can be found… I don’t take anything as 100%, I take what I can out of everything I read, look at, or learn from.

And Yes he mentioned DOMS, but his initial post is because he hasn’t lost a single lb in 2 weeks and doesn’t know why…

In fact, with the amount of cardio he does depending on how many calories he’s burning from that each session, he can eat at maintenance and adjust his macros slightly and still lose fat.

So are you his defense lawyer or are you the thread prosecutor to make yourself seem so knowledgeable and smart?

Some people really take forum stuff too personal lol Like you could just stay quiet and mind your own whether you agreed with my post or not… That’d be more mature…

But I get it… You’re that guy that was born with so much gym and nutrition experience, never in your life had a learning curve or who knows, maybe never weighed 150 lbs and for you that’s considered “scrawny”. lol

Sorry but not sorry… Your post to me is foolish and entertaining to say the least.

BTW - Any advise regarding nutrition or muscle building from anyone whether beginner or expert is always going to lack 100% on point… Everyone’s body is different… The key is to take information from different sources and try what you feel is best until you find what actually is best for yourself…

So appreciate your words Mr. expert… I guess you know exactly what factors determine this person’s calorie intake and how his body will ultimately recover from DOMS just because you get DOMS every workout… :+1:

Oh and if a muscle building forum feedback constitutes “real world” experience, than wow, you are just beyond my level of thinking… I guess you’re batting for home runs on your assumptions…

Guess I struck a nerve. Cool.

I know you said minimum but 120g of protein is very low. No need to go so high but atleast .8 grams per pound. Probably don’t need to go higher than 1.2. But bump that protein up a bit

This might seem very basic because it is but sometimes people over think it.

Good to hear. In good shape from that pic btw

x2 on bumping the protein up a bit, also can add unlimited green veg and maybe 10-20g of good fats

Thanks mate!Btw,I wouldnt imagine that someone will actually argue so badly about my topic.Ive already took a decision and I’ll stick to that decision.Remember that the main reason I asked for help was because I wasnt feeling good at all with my diet as long as not dropping in weight.I’ll up my calories to 2800 and my training will be changed a little bit.
Ill train 5 days per week wihile incororating some strength complexes and explosive movements I had trained in the past.Anyway, thank you for help!
I asked a quesion several times here and no one seem to give me some pieces of advice. What should I do next?I plan to finish my cut at the end of the month and I have no future plans regarding my training.I’d try the zombie apocalypse workkout because it has like everything Im searching for.

When I do a PSMF I cut on 1200 calories. People are so scared of taking their calories too low. Keep your protein high as a kite and you’ll be fine.

2400 would be a fucking breeze in comparison

I wont do such thing with my body.I do not plan to compete and not even reaching under 8% cause i care more about my health and performance than my appearance.

Color me curious: How long do you do this? What kind of conditions - i.e. how heavy do you get before you decide to do it and how much do you drop before you quit?

We used to drop calories extremely low in wrestling and various military schools, and it really wasn’t that horrible, so I get what you’re saying. It’s just not something I’ve ever really done for the purpose of looking jacked, so I’m wondering how you do it.

Thanks!

I’ve done it at various times for various reasons. It’s not something you’d do long term but if you do it right you can strip a serious amount of fat in a very short time. Depending on how lean you are you’d do it for a week or two, have a break, then maybe do it again, again depending on how lean you are.

Lyle McDonald explains it way better than I ever could in The Rapid Fat Loss Handbook which I highly recommend reading, but the cliff notes are basically something like:

-2g of protein per lb of bodyweight
-(almost) no fats
-(almost) no carbs

So you find yourself eating a shit ton of chicken breast and not much else.

There’s a little more to it than that, and the book goes into the science behind it which is pretty interesting.

Lyle McDonald’s great, and I would recommend all of his books even if you don’t plan on doing any of the diets. You learn a LOT about how your body processes macronutrients.

Awesome. Thank you for the explanation and the recommendation - I will read his stuff.

Yogi is very much on point. I too had in the past tussled with extremely low caloric diets and had fairly good results as long as fat-loss is concerned. But in the process I got over zealous and pushed it too long duration-wise and faced some unfavorable implications as a result. But proceeding with care will take you much far, and I second Lyle McDonald stuff.

My wife and I do this in the fall after the three months of summer vacation trip, school supply shopping, kids’ club sports annual registration, and Christmas shopping. Plus I get paid monthly.

We go back to maintenance after payday.
