Long day, a lot of driving but made it to the gym. It’s been a while.
50 minute workout:
Chin ups with 1 band 3x3 (I am so weak on these…)
superset with
golblet squats 50lbs 3x12 hip still felt strained so kept it light
V medicine ball throw (8lbs) 3x12
Pushups on medicine ball 3x8
Close grip cable row 85lbs 3x8
Good Mornings 95lbs 3x8
Standing cable crunches 55lbs x12, 75lbs x12, 95lbs x12
superset with
tricep cable press down 45lbs 3x12
Stiff leg deadlift 70lbs 3x8
barbell bicep curls 30lbs 3x8
The point was to move through these fast and work on endurance. A switch up from the PL style of lengthy breaks.
I was surprised to see it didn’t feel like fun despite the full 2 week break but the hubbie has been really sick these past few days so I’m probably fighting off the bugs.
Hi Dash - next meets are far off. Game plan is to back off 5/3/1 for the next 6-8 weeks. I need to miss the barebell. The next comps I’ve got lined up are the qualifier in June, provincials in October and from there hopefully nationals.
In the meantime I’ll be working on targeting some weak spot: single leg work, abs ect…
Last friday I did a photoshoot with a pregnant couple and the pics turned out really good. They picked up their CD this evening, and I showed them the results on our flat screen. They were happy and already planning the baby pics tres cool.
i’m sorry to hear about your meet
congrats on your PR’s before the meet, though. happy to hear the calender got launched around that time, too, so you had something to celebrate to keep your spirits up. there will be plenty of other meets, yeah. have fun training. i’m sure you will miss the bar real soon.
wonderful feeling, that. i’ve gone through some times lately where the magic seems to have worn off. kind of enjoying my 3x a week training now. gives me the chance to miss it. and coach limiting my lifts is making me really appreciate that each and every attempt is special because there really aren’t very many of them.
Up Scale - it is when the shoot turns out a few good ones. When it doesn’t I need to learn from it. You’d be surprised how many pictures I screw up simply for not holding the camera straight.
Alex - your right for the calendar launch, it reminded that this summer I went through a fabulous lifting streak and now it’s tappered off. That’s the cycle of it but in the meanwhile I just focus my main energy on being creative.
MIM - you did mention it, would you send me the link again as inspiration? I have a folder of those and I can’t seem to find it.
MT - no man and wife. sorry if that came out werid. Thats just the way I talk. Although the woman carries it, it takes two to fertalize.
Cal - I’m focusing on the positive until I can smash it again.
Git - Thanks Doc
Kev - I totally splurged and got a Sigma 30mm F1,4 for Canon. I was planning to hit Jamaica this Feb, but I just downgraded my trip to Cuba. lol. When the husband rolled his eyes I answered at least I didn’t come back with a new 7D or worse the 5D beast the clerk was trying to push on me. Then there would have been no vacation at all…
I bought a wonderful 50mm a while back but I was having issues framing larger pictures in tight spaces ie pictures taken in homes where I can’t back up 20 feet. This was especially obvious at my niece’s b-day party. The 30mm should give me a better range up close.
I also got a Canon Speedlite 430EX II to help in low light situations. The flash on my camera was just a leach, bleeching everyone out. With my new flash and a Gary Fong Light Sphere I should upgrade the quality of my pics a nice big notch. I attached pic to show what I mean.
the last little thing I bought was a 16gig memory card. with these shoots I can take over 200 pics and I was soon eating up my 8gigs (I shoot it all in Raw).
Needless to say these few items racked me up pretty fast and my old Rebel still does the job. I made sure all the new toys were transferable to a possible upgrade in a couple years.
I hope you heal quickly. I know it’s disappointing to sit out a meet when your training cycle has been built around it, but I think you definitely made the right decision.
I injured my lower back about a month before my third meet. But I [foolishly, I can say in hindsight] went ahead with it. When the time came to squat and DL, I was timid and afraid to strain for fear I’d cause further injury. So my results were disappointing. But I learned a good lesson and will never go into another meet physically compromised like that.
i want some of that childs cake! it looks full of adorable and love! and sugar! your picts frenchie are always so warm!! when you take them of your fam i can see the love!!
