I was thinking of switching over but I’m still in 38 waist pants so I don’t think they’d have me.

Skip, it felt great not wearing shoes. I may do it more often. Like yourself my son lifts in bare feet. He says be likes it better. So I gave it a try.

Steve, about the only thing I really LIKE wearing shoes for is bench. I think with bench, since I am up on my toes and the balls of my feet, it gives me the sense that my feet are planted on something. And there is the added grip.
Outside of that, I agree with your son. Maybe I have just watched Conan one time to many…
Big storm here last night. Winds up to 68 mph. All kinds of trees down and power outages. A quarter of the state is without power (only 230,000). I’ve been without it since 12 last night. Showered here at work.
Wow, 25% power out is a big storm. Looks like you might be roughin’ it for a few days.
Just stay at work. What’s the point in going home if you don’t have internet or TV?
I may have to go to my parents tonight. They didn’t lose power. I was hoping to get a light workout in tonight and do some stone carrying tomorrow. The power outage may change plans.
I have a small stone and a bigger one that must be 185-200 lbs. Hard to tell. I need to find a few more so I have more variety to train with. Its fun as hell getting out there and getting dirt all over yourself while busting your balls.
Steve, how are things up there? Get your power back yet?
Skip, thanks for asking. Lights came back on yesterday. Almost three days without power. Some people are still looking at a couple days before power is restored. Needless to say I didn’t workout at all even though I thought about lifting by candlelight. Saturday night we went to the movies and saw Tooth Fairy and Avatar back to back to kill some time. Avatar was really cool.
The house didn’t get below 53 degrees so it wasn’t to bad. Internet service will be out (at home) for a couple more weeks we’re being told. I’m having a generator installed big enough to power the entire house this spring. Screw living without lights and heat. Back to lifting tonight. I cleared a spot in the basement so I can do farmers walks. I want to add those into the routine.
What is your diet like for weight loss? Are you doing something similar to Rick’s (Fischer’s) diet?
Jack, I’m just a simple low carb diet guy. No thinking involved. So a usual weekday will be eggs for breakfast, salad for lunch and meat or protein shake for supper. This past weekend was a total bust for the diet. Tough to be good during a power outage. Rick is much more advanced then I am with diet and training.
Sounds like its time to get back to work in the basement. You must have a well insulated place but good thinking on the generator. You may have some neighbors showing up on the next major power out.
Funny I thought the same thing about neighbors and family showing up after I get a generator. But I’d rather that then reading a book with a flashlight under three blankets. My inlaws still don’t have power and are staying with us.
Last night:
cleans 135x5,185x3,225x2,1,1
deads 225x5,315x3,405x3,455x1
fat bar CGB up to 289x3
chins BW+25 x5,5 BWx5,5,5
farmers walks 100’s
Weight loss has resumed. Just want to keep my strength from going any lower. I know it’ll come back quick when I add good carbs and protein shakes with milk back into my daily intake. It’d be nice to deadlift and squat what I was but be 20+ lbs lighter.
Nice training Steve. Glad to know you survived the outages. Now that you have the generator your power will be fine.

That was it. Playing ‘Call of Duty’ with my oldest son sounded much more fun then lifting last night. We mostly play doubles killing nazi zombies.

That sounds like great fun. Good thing you have sons. I play Boogie on the WII with my daughter. 315x10 is pretty damn cool too!

Thanks JW. I could have done more but pussied out. Just wasn’t in the mood for physical activity. I love all the shoot 'em up video games. We have a couple call of duty games, halo and borderlands. My younger son and I play a lot of heads up halo. Hes 8 but usually beats me. I tied him last night but considered it a victory.
i’m more impressed with the fact that you own a SSB.

I agree…but, you have to admit, beating an 8 year old at a video/computer game is pretty darned impressive.
