Cardio hell 40 minutes on the Treadmill. I made the mistake of listening to a podcast vs. music. That damn sure won’t happen again!
While I was driving to work, with my radio off, in the back roads of NC I saw something cool. I got behind a 80’ long 6’ tall concrete bridge beam. They had a little guy driving the back of the trailer. You don’t see stuff like that often out here.
But other things I have watched that is pretty cool recently are:
An osprey fishing. What a marvel it is to see that little bird dive in the river from 150’ up and picking up a big ass brim. They are more successful than me.
1a. The osprey family kicking the bald eagle’s ass. They are 1/5 the size of the eagle and to watch them have a territory fight is amazing.
The mamma black bear waiting for a break in traffic to cross the 4 lane highway. She waited, sent her babies out and followed them. She had more traffic sense than most of the folks that lived in the area.
The guy that tied a dorm fridge on the back of a scooter in Ho Chi Minh City and drive off. It was about 2’ square and 30" tall. He fastened it with 4 bungee cords and drove off in traffic from hell. We had bets that he wouldn’t make it a block. We all lost.

Thank goodness I lift weights tomorrow!
Very cool stuff J! Do you have any options on the cardio that suck less? Or do you change it around, bkie/tread/ellipitical?
I hate to admit this, but I’ve been known to threaten to kill my dogs or anyone (or anything) that pisses me off when I’m doing cardio. And it doesn’t take much to piss me off when I’m doing cardio. Just ask my hubby …
I like to listen to trance or techno music when I’m doing cardio. For some reason it pisses me off just enough to make me work real hard, but NOT shoot the stereo.
Yet.
I’ve been known to quit gyms for playing talk radio in the morning.
Assisted pull ups: 5xBW less 95x5
Lat machine: 70x12, 90x10, 90x8
Dbell Military press (seated): 40x10, 40x10, 45x7
Smith machine military press partials: 50x10, 55x10, 65x10
Skull crushers: 50x10, 70x7, 70x7
Triceps ext machine: 2x125x10
Treadmill: 20 minutes
My workout felt good this morning. I used the fancy Lat machine thingy, it felt good. I’ll add it in for a while. Same with the triceps doo-hickey whatchamacallit machine . I just felt like blasting the triceps today. I’m not sure why, I guess I have strange spirits that move me at times.
I went to bed early, woke up late. I arrived at the gym at 6:15 am. So I caught the over 50 women’s treadmill club that walk on the treadmill and read the Sunday newspaper. As an almost 50 male I fit the population age limit, but my workout was marked different. I received some strange looks!

A sad, but true, confession. I love techno right before I compete. Gets me really pumped up. We all have our dark little secrets.
That’s the truth, that is the truth.
Which is why more of us should probably be wearing a button like “Near 50” has for his new avatar.
Thought about going to get some extra cardio work on the treadmill. I was planning to ride the Harley and enjoy an afternoon ride. I bailed on the cardio work and bike ride for the sunset.

I’m a slacker!
Naw - just appreciating the good things in life!
We just had a triple rainbow during a nice little sun shower.
Your own little slice of heaven, man. I think Doc asked somewhere else how do people keep their egos in check? Just check out nature’s handiwork. Enjoyin that ain’t slackin. That’s down home Zen.
If that’s the view from your place I’m jealous as hell. Looks like a good river to swim, too. I’ve got to walk through a tree line to get to the river. Thanks for the picture.

The photos were taken off my back deck. That is the view to the west by northwest direction. Here are some taken last winter. The bridge is south by southwest.
Thats a awesome view and beautiful place willy. Its ok to have a easy day of training and decompress.I think less is more in the sport of weightlifting.
Willy, beautiful pictures. Green grass in winter is not something we see here in the Northwoods…
Have you figured out a new “cardio” routine to shake things up a bit? You may want to look into some strongman type stuff (farmers walks, stone carries, sledge work, tire work, wheelbarrow work)
Power Snatch: Bar x 5, 65x5, 2x95x5, 2x105x5
Treadmill: 30 minutes
What a day! I drove to Southern Maryland to buy lumber from some Amish guys to sell to my Chinese and Vietnamese guys. The Amish guys think I’m a one crazy fella, but strangely enough they agreed to sell to me! I figure they were impressed by the results from my chest and shoulder work recently. Most likely it was the fact I could net them a little more at their mill.
I made it home, the wife and young’un were away so I slipped out to the gym. I had been thinking about my power snatch form and gave it a bit of a go before my regularly scheduled cardio hell.
Bench day tomorrow!! WOO-HOO! Y’all have a good evening!
Nothing remarkable to report today. I did dumbbell shrugs instead of in the smith machine, just because. I have gone back to working out on an empty stomach. My weight loss had stagnated for a while, even as I continued with a clean diet.
I traced it back to when I started drinking skim milk and whey powder before the workout. I’m going to give it a few weeks and see how that effects me. It will probably effect my numbers, but I guess from a health standpoint long term fat loss is a bit more important than decent strength gains in the near term.
As an aside, the fishing must be good today. As I was driving across the 6 mile bridge I noticed 7 osprey soaring close to the bridge, hunting fish. This is an extremely rare sight. I make that conclusion because I drive this bridge twice a day 6 days a week. I bet they are catching Rockfish…dammit…
