Fast Food for Mass

I was a huge proponent of fast food for bulking until recently. I stopped eat as much and cleaned up my diet and I’ve been making better gains than ever. (I feel much healthier too).

It’s okay in a pinch when I need food but there are plenty of options that are fast other than shit like McDonald’s.

I think it was in one of TC’s recent articles.

“If it doesn’t rot, don’t eat it.”

McDonald’s doesn’t rot, man.

I worked at MacDonalds way back in the day and usually stay away from all the burger places. I do think outside the bun though and If I want to put on a few pounds on I’ll get 3 or 4 grilled stuffed burritos at Taco Bell and chow down. Toxic Hell is my source for bulking crack.

In SD I can buy a quarter of a buffalo (or cows too) for cheap and eat like a god-damn lion whenever and it tastes 1000 times better than any msg and gassed meat.

I wonder if Lee Priest is still on the fast food bulking diet. I think he was kind of notorious for eating fast food in the off season.

Dave Tate is notorious for eating fast food, a lot of big strongman and powerlifters eat a lot of fast food. Its mostly I think for people who are trying to get in a lot of calories like near 10k. Eating healthy meats is not the best way to pack in a lot of calories. For the average joe though it should just be an indulgence, though subway is pretty awesome but also expensive.

Lee Preist.

Yep, I go get a double meat chicken breast with extra spinach at Subway at least once a week. Good stuff!

That Lee Priest photo is always good for a laugh

To the OP, try eating chili. Lots of calories, and usually a better option as far as fast food is concerned.

A: Sorry your in Iraq or were in Iraq, but that has absolutely nothing to do with this conversation.

B: You may very well have real world experience, but all you said is you built dumbbells in Iraq, so I don’t know what that has to do with the proper way to bulk.

C: I’m not turning this thread into an argument, if anything it was those who attack the original poster. He asked what fast foods people liked while they bulked and started to get assaulted.

D: I do not deem anyones physique “hilarious”. The point in mentioning it is, most of the guys with large, well developed physiques around here won’t tell you that you can never have a fucking cheeseburger while you bulk. Some will even tell you that it might be a GOOD idea on occasion. I never said every day, and I seriously doubt the OP eats this every day.
It is usually less developed guys who say don’t do this or that, thus the comment about getting real world experience, as it pertains to weightlifting a bulking. Military or engineering might be life experience, but its got shit to do with bulking and weightlifting, I say that because thats all you really told me. You didn’t tell me about some amazing transformation you’ve made or how long you’ve been seriously training so I have nothing else to go by.

and finally, E: Chicken, broccoli, and rice, was a metaphor for eating clean, it was not directly intended for you nor for anyone. It meant that eating clean (i.e. chicken, broccoli, and rice) isn’t necessary 100% of the time.

If you don’t want to turn this thread into an argument, leave your fuckin’ attitude at the door.[/quote]

Great post.

Seconded. Not to derail too much but I’m sick of pukes coming back from Iraq thinking we owe the world to them. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great they serve their Constitution and country, and I feel for them having to be in the shit for too long a time.

BUT that doesn’t give them the right to trump every accomplishment anyone else could make, or win any argument, with the “I was in this war” card. So fucking what? Yes, you should be proud of yourself, yes you should be happy and no, no one should take away from what you did over there and put yourself through. But the second you use that experience to belittle someone else or put yourself on a pedestal trying to make everyone else’s ordeals and accomplishments seem trivial, is the second I lose all respect for you.

getswole, there is a difference between eating a cheeseburger and eating 3 triple stackers of probably the worst meat there is.

hell, I eat red meat near everyday, but I choose to cook my own and not shovel in 3,000 cals in one sitting.

of course, I’m not a big guy so what do I know, that seems to ever be the only thing that matters

It isn’t the only thing that matters, but when guys who weigh all of 165lbs begin speaking on “how to get big”, the discussion loses all ground in reality. If most of the guys who do qualify as big aren’t afraid to eat a hamburger from time to time, why would someone listen to a person who never got big as they tell them not to?

How does that honestly make much sense to you?

We’ve been through this before. Even though you are a personal trainer, I doubt there are any people coming to you to get them into shape for a heavyweight class in a bodybuilding competition.

The reason for that is that most guys who are that level would never go to someone that much smaller than them unless they had a significant (extremely significant) background in getting other heavyweights ready for competition.

Theory doesn’t take the place of experience. It never has.

And since it apparently needs to be said in every single post, no one is talking about making McDonald’s a regular eating place everyday. I fucking hate McDonald’s.

This shouldn’t even need to be written out but no doubt some idiot is going to claim I am telling everyone to add fast food into their diet as a regular staple as if they don’t understand the importance of calories or stages of development or speed of metabolism.

My goal is to gain muscle mass when gaining. It is not to win an award for eating “cleaner” than everyone else. I eat in whatever way will produce the results I am after. If my choices are “hamburger” or “wait 2 or 3 more hours before I eat anything”, you can bet the hamburger is going down.

and i agree, that given the circumstances, something is better than nothing. But, really how often does fast food need to be eaten? I can’t recall the last time I ate at one of those places.

in a pinch, yes, but come on.

“Need to be eaten”? If my goal is a certain number of calories and I am trying to GAIN weight, if the majority of my calories are coming from clean sources, how could a hamburger from anywhere cause any problem with your physique goals? If anything, the extra calories would probably help.

Also, why is it when an author makes some specific rule like “make fast food 10% of total intake” no one says a word but the simple act of stating ground beef and bread won’t kill you, all hell breaks loose?

I doubt very much of even your daily intake “needs to be eaten”. We aren’t talking about survival tactics here. We are talking about how to get big muscles when you started out with little ones. You do that by eating more calories than the average 160lbs personal trainer at 24 Hour Fitness eats.

X, don’t you get tired of trying to get the same message across to people all the time? I can’t imagine I would still be doing this if I were you, I’d be so frustrated at this point.

I’ve only been here a little over a year and I’ve seen you debate this same topic over and over again, I can’t imagine how many times you’ve done it since before my time. I applaud the iron will you must have to not kill yourself after having to reiterate the same thing over and over again for years to no avail.

I guess I have over-reacted, but the original post made it seem like it was a regular feeding and a good way of going about it.

X you really should write a bunch of articles on bodybuilding.
