First off I gotta give huge thank you and shout out to Alpha for his article paying attention to intention. I kind of had a plan for warm ups and what weights I was going to use to pyramid up to 600lb, but after reading his article that was it…I had a complete plan, and even though work and family threw off my am workout schedule I had no stress and had complete confidence! So between the confidence my plan gave me and everyone’s support on here, I actually had in mind to go for 650lb.
Here is the vid…feel free to laugh at me.
Once I racked it I felt great! I thought I’m going for 650! Then I watched the vid while resting…where is the depth? I was so ashamed of my self, how could I say I squat? All day I expected Bill Kazmaier to show up at my house to tell me how insulted he was by my “squat”. And whats strange is I felt almost ATG. So in the afternoon I played around with squatting to depth in front of a mirror…pretty sad even just body weight I still hit that same depth as in the vid!I could force myself to go deeper but it was painful at the hip joints. Then I started making excuses for myself…“Oh well thats just what you are anatomicaly allowed”, “You dont compete what does it matter how deep you squat”. BULL CRAP! EXCUSES ARE FOR QUITTERS! And I aint no quitter!
So new plan of attack for squats: 9 week cycle of
week 1-2 box squats to parallel and light narrow stance front squats ATG!
week 3 1/4 120% load squat from rack(To keep the body used to holding heavy loads) and
light narrow stance front squats ATG.
I think everyone has had this happen to them at training in some point. Video is a great eye opener. That rig you are squatting for is already going to make things pretty complicated as far as squatting/hitting depth is concerned, and the sheer fact you can walkout with 600lbs with no real belt is still a testament to some brutal core strength. It’s good you are using this as an opportunity to get better and be humble, and just keep in mind that, as long as you are getting stronger, it doesn’t matter if you are completely ATG.
Yea shake it off man. Now you know where you are and where you need to get to. It is amazing how different things really are compared to how they feel. That is why I try to video most of my sets. Sometimes I will feel like I was grinding but when i watch the vid it was pretty fast. Other times I think something went awesome, but the vid shows that it wasn’t. Goes both ways. But it is better to know than to be ignorant to the truth. Your set-up is insane! I like the vid though, definitely leaves people who don’t have traditional equipment with no excuse to not get work done. Proud of you man, keep moving forward.
Wow. Just walking out with all that stuff swinging off the bar is pretty crazy. Your plan for getting to depth is solid, so just keep working it. I love your inventiveness and will to improve.

Alpha dude thank you very much! I plan on videoing most if not all my sets from now on, but I’ll only post what’s of note or new movements 'cause my computer doesn’t like downloading from my cell phone and our camera is a pain in the neck. Thank you I plan on moving forward…like a freight train!
