Farmer's Log 2

Where you moving? Gonna be able to train at home still?

the good thing about a motorhome is that you can pile stuff on top, and hang stuff off the back. Reinforce part of the roof, and take your bumpers. hang the bike(s) off the back.

CAV - Did you know that SPAM (special processed American meats) was flown into the UK by the Americans during the second world war and was responsible for keeping a lot of Brits alive during rationing?
I didn’t know about Spam in particular, but I’m aware of the convoy system that kept getting supplies to the Brits, and how they had to fight the German U-boats that kept attacking them.

Eco - Don’t know exactly, but probably Mediterannean Europe. I won’t be able to lift at all for a while. This is one we like the look of http://www.rightmove.co.uk/overseas-property/property-30576865.html

MJ - Are you proposing a lifting platform on the roof? It’s an interesting idea, but the van is about 10ft high, I miss a hell of a lot of snatches and I quite like having legs, so I’ll pass thanks.

Cav - Yeah I said it was “flown” over, but it would have been shipped. I’m not sure they even could fly over the Atlantic in the early 40’s.

Had me one of the shittiest weekends ever. Went to the vets on Friday and found out that our beautiful dog of 13 years Molly has liver failure. Two of her enzymes tested that should have measured around 100 were both over 800!!! The vet says she only has a matter of weeks to live. After much soul searching we have taken the decision, one I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, to have her put to sleep tomorrow, to save her any more suffering. I know it’s the right decision, but it still feels so wrong.

We took her on her “DisneyWorld trip” today. We went for a gentle stroll by the river (she can’t walk far these days) and she had a paddle. We must have looked a strange bunch, a cheerful dog trotting along with it’s tail wagging, flanked on either side by two of the most depressed people you’re ever likely to see.

Got to make the most of this evening.

Struggling with my atheism right now.

Here’s a clip of her from today.

That will be some nice numbers, good luck.

Brought a tear to my eye FB.

The good thing about animals is that as long as they know they are loved and wanted, they are not stressed even if ill, and are content and happy thru the end.

This would give me a DL of 545, a squat of 489 and a bench of 343!!! Yeah right!!! I’d be very happy with 525, 475 and 325.
What? Is that it?!?!?

Actually, Brett, my biggest worry is you’ll hit all your goals and then refuse to go exploring the continent for fear of losing ground. It will be highly cool to watch you fight for this.

And by the way, SPAM is not an acornym. It’s a simple abbreviation of SPiced hAM. I know because it was a question on Trivial Pursuit, and my brain is like a steel trap for useless knowledge.

Molly looks like a happy dog. I’m sorry for you. Really. A month ago our 12year-old dog suddenly started yelping, collapsed in a stiff arch with eyes rolled ALL THE WAY back, pooped and peed himself, and was completly non-responsive. We hauled him off to the vet with three bawling kids and a sobbing wife, and me trying to keep it together. After we got there, he got up and was fine. I’m really happy I didn’t have to face putting the little guy down just yet.

Dogs are better than people. They don’t hold grudges, they’re always overjoyed to see their friends, they want nothing more than to love and be loved, and they can pee on command.

And by the way…

TWENTY-THIRD!!!

dogs are better than people. very sorry to hear about yours.

spam. ew.

Damn Brett, real sorry for you and your family.

Really feeling for you. Especially regarding the atheism comment. It’s so hard to make sense of so much without a neat and tidy moral fabric and a belief of life everlasting.

Brett- Sorry for Molly’s woes. I have walked those shoes…enjoy the time she has…DOGS are the BEST! Peace

Sorry about your little buddy there Brett. Hope both of you find peace.

Soory Brett, One of the things that I dont like about being here is I am away from my dog. I know its not easy, it never is.

Sorry to hear about your dog. I had to put down one of mine once. She was my best friend.

So sorry about Molly. She looks so happy in that creek.

Are there any Unitarian churches around there? They’re very tolerant, even accept atheists.

I have been there as well Brett. Find some peace along that river with your memories…

Molly died at home in the garden (no dog of mine will ever die on a vets table) sat between me and my wife on the front lawn in the warm sunshine. The vet gave her a sedative so she fell asleep gradually and we had plenty of time to say our goodbyes. It was as nice as these things can be. Still feel like fucking shit though, the house feels so empty. Absolutely horrible to come downstairs this morning and her not be there. Time will heal I know, but it doesn’t feel like it.

Didn’t lift yesterday and didn’t eat much either. My wife and I took a walk down the track last night anyway, in her memory.

Anyway enough of this stuff, it’s too upsetting for me, but thanks everybody for all the kind words. I really mean it.

Back Squat @ 297 lbs x 10-10

Leg Curls @ 80 lbs x 10-10-10

Push Ups @ bw x 20-20-20 (supersetted with) EZ Curls @ 88 lbs x 8-8-8

Flat Bench Press @ 132 lbs x 10-10

Performed the squats with a slow, controlled descent not my usual olympic style drop and bounce, trying to build a bit of strength out the hole and some back strength ready for the heavier weights to come.

Did some light flat bench in readyness for the start of my bench cycle tomorrow and I’m glad I did. Having done inclines only for a while, I took the first rep off the pins and lost it behind my head, it clattered into the uprights. After a couple of sets of 10 it began to feel less alien. It’s amazing how much of a difference the angle can make.
